With their irresponsible speaker vote debacle, Republicans are once again living up to their reputation as the “do nothing but harm to the American people” party. By failing to elect a speaker in a timely fashion, they showed, once again, that they care more about grandstanding and power grabbing than governing. Now that Republicans are in charge of the House for the next two years, they’ll surely hold up the work of the people by kowtowing to their most extreme fringe members, including Marjorie Taylor Greene. To maintain control, they proved that they intend to go further and further to the right…by already passing two anti-abortion measures! This isn’t leadership. And the ones who suffer are America’s working families and seniors. Unfortunately, it can get worse. If we don’t take action right now, the GOP could very well win again in 2024 and even expand their majority. That’s why we must start early to build our grassroots team to ensure we can win back the House two years from now. [Early organizing is the key to victory. Will you help us to do that by chipping in $10 before our first monthly budget deadline of the new year?]( Look, I serve in Congress because I want to continue to help South Florida’s working families. That’s why the House GOP’s reckless behavior is so infuriating. They’re impeding progress and making it impossible to do our work and serve our constituents. When Democrats held the House over the last two years, we successfully passed landmark legislation to combat climate change, lower prescription drug costs, improve our country’s infrastructure, prevent gun violence, secure marriage equality, and much more. If we want to take back the House two years from now, we need to start working right away.
