[Dappered | Allen Edmonds Rediscover America Sale Fall 2019 – Top 15 Picks]() --------------------------------------------------------------- - [Allen Edmonds Rediscover America Sale Fall 2019 – Top 15 Picks](#1) - [In Review: Banana Republic’s Waxed Canvas Briefcase, Tote, and Dopp Kit](#2) - [Bonobos: 25% off Sitewide (with lots of new fall arrivals)](#3) [Allen Edmonds Rediscover America Sale Fall 2019 – Top 15 Picks](r/Dappered/~3/s9vUqYw_Q8U/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email) Posted: 01 Oct 2019 03:00 AM PDT Heads up: Buying via our links may result in us getting a commission. [Here’s why.]( [Allen Edmonds Rediscover America Sale Fall 2019]( It’s one of their biggest sales of the year. But the discounts aren’t uniform. Some shoes are a REALLY good deal. Other shoes? They’re… a deal. It just depends on the model. So, below you’ll find our picks for what we think is the best of the best in terms of price to style ratio. Want to save even more? If you haven’t [signed up for their email list (aka Collector’s Club) yet]( you might be able to stack that first time sign up 15% off code with these savings. Got a tip on something we missed? Send those suggestions into joe@dappered.com. [#1. McAllister Wingtip Oxford – $245]( ($395) [McAllister Wingtip Oxford]( All the visual interest of a wingtip, but you still get the conservative toe shape and classy looks of a true oxford. Tons of colors to pick from. Multiple widths to choose from too. All sorts of right. $150 off retail. That’s… a lot. [#2. Dalton Wingtip Dress Boots – $309]( ($445) [Allen Edmonds Dalton Wingtip Boots on Dappered.com]( We’re heading head first into boot season and AE gets the idea in their head to reduce the price to a point where it’s heading towards $300? Perfect. Available in oxblood, dark chili, black, and the walnut shown above. Also available [with a subtle studded Dainite rubber sole if you want that grip for the upcoming weather](. [#3. Cornwallis Dress Oxford – $245]( ($395) [Allen Edmonds Cornwallis Dress Oxford on Dappered.com]( Contemporary without being overly flashy. Sexy without being thirsty. The Cornwallis might be one of the best looking shoes Allen Edmonds has ever come out with. Is it as timeless as the McAllister wingtip? Nah. Is it, uh… hawt? Yes it is. Five colors to pick from. 4.5/5 stars after 250 reviews. Another shoe that’s a whopping $150 off. Full in person review from us can be [found here](. [#4. Dalton WEATHERPROOF wingtip Boot in – $329]( ($475) For those [who come from the land of the ice and snow](. AE is now making a Dalton that they claim is fully weatherproof. For real? German waterproof leather, and the interior has a weatherproof membrane lining but it’s also lined in leather. Dainite sole here, of course, because it’s made for the weather. All around impressive. And you can have it in any color you’d like, as long as it’s the brown shown above. [#5. Higgins Mill in Chromexcel – $295]( or [Weatherproof Grain – $325]( ($395 – $425) [Allen Edmonds Higgins Mill Boots]( More boots! Oh man. That tan grain option. I mean, the weatherproofing is just a bonus, no? Meanwhile, the brown chromexcel option is the same one that caught many an eye [in our recent athletic jeans round up](. [#6. Fifth Ave. Cap Toe Oxford – $245]( ($395) [Fifth Ave. Cap Toe Oxford]( Conservative, but the quarter-brogue style perforated cap toe spices it up a bit. Like, a little. One of their standards. Can’t go wrong here. [#7. St. John’s Double Monk Strap – $245]( ($395) [Allen Edmonds St. John's Double Monk Strap on Dappered.com]( Style forward and then some. Available in black, walnut, and the dark chili shown here. Full review of these things [can be found right here](. [#8. Hamilton Cap-Toe Oxford Dress Boot – $275]( ($395) [Allen Edmonds Hamilton Cap-Toe Oxford Dress Boot]( Brown tumbled leather uppers. Dainite subtle studded rubber sole. True oxford lacing in a boot. Goodyear welted, Made in the USA, and re-craftable. New for this year and [was at the top of our annual list of most tempting fall style goods for men](. Now $100 off. Those are something. [#9. Carlyle Plain Toe Oxford – $245]( ($395) [Allen Edmonds Carlyle Plain Toe Oxford on Dappered.com]( Less is often more. And I’ve found that to be true with the Carlyle. For being so absent of any brouging or stitching flourishes, the shape and the leather and the flat laces make these things super attractive. They’re sleek and slick and clean and mean. Absolutely suit worthy, but I’ve found they can actually be dressed down a bit too. [Full review here](. Available in coffee, chili, black or walnut (as shown above). [#10. Bartlett Cap Toe Oxford – $369]( ($530) [Allen Edmonds Bartlett Cap Toe Oxford on Dappered.com]( Kinda like the Strand, only upgraded in all the right ways (not that the Strand is any sort of slouch). From their top of the line Independence collection. Ultra premium leathers, two-tone soles, the works. [#11. Nomad Chelseas in Suede or Calfskin – $275]( ($375) [Allen Edmonds Nomad Chelseas]( I’m, personally, a fan of the Nomad line. Constructed for extra comfort but still Goodyear welted. And that medium almost “snuff” colored shade of brown suede is all kinds of good looking. [#12. Strand Cap Toe Oxfords – $315]( ($395) [Allen Edmonds Strand Captoe Oxfords on Dappered.com]( The legend. But, relatively speaking, it’s at the bottom of this here list. Because for seventy bucks less you can get [a pair of Cornwallis]( or [McAllisters](. And for [$54 more you could upgrade to Bartletts](. So they’re kinda in no-mans land here. [#13. Bond Street Cap Toe Oxfords – $315]( ($425) [Allen Edmonds Bond Street Cap Toe Oxfords]( Simple, clean, classic, but with a slightly elongated shape for a more contemporary look. That’s the Bond Street. [Built on the new 64 last](, which is a slightly longer and a touch more roomy through the toe box than the classic 65 (Park Ave., Strand), these are the shoes that you’ve seen Baker Mayfield wearing in the more recent Allen Edmonds marketing. Your preferences towards or biases against Mr. Mayfield aside, they seem to be quite the handsome shoe. Standard color range PLUS a couple of subtly textured options, as is shown above. [#14. Mackenna Plain-Toe Blucher – $245]( ($345) [Allen Edmonds Mackenna Plain-Toe Blucher]( If you subscribe to the idea that standing out quietly is a smart move, then these might be a perfect shoe for you. A basic, plain toe blucher, but with a little broguing around the heel and some smartly tumbled leather. Dainite sole here as well. Thinking these would look terrific with jeans as well as all sorts of textured trousers. (Tweed or corduroy suit?) [#15. Cordovan Strand Cap Toe Oxfords – $590]( ($695) [Allen Edmonds Cordovan Strand Cap Toe Oxfords]( I’m just not a cordovan guy. To me, it’s not worth it, and it looks almost too “perfect” in person. But that’s to my eyes, and perhaps this says something about the deep self-hatred that exists within my soul, but I think there’s a clash between shoes this “perfect” and my generally imperfect look/style/overall existence. BUT. You might like cordovan! Good for you if you do! The Allen Edmonds Rediscover America Sale runs clear through October 21st.  ff/Dappered?a=s9vUqYw_Q8U:8hXFYrjHtc4:yIl2AUoC8zA ff/Dappered?a=s9vUqYw_Q8U:8hXFYrjHtc4:qj6IDK7rITs ff/Dappered?a=s9vUqYw_Q8U:8hXFYrjHtc4:gIN9vFwOqvQ [In Review: Banana Republic’s Waxed Canvas Briefcase, Tote, and Dopp Kit](r/Dappered/~3/OC8TPnQIdGc/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email) Posted: 30 Sep 2019 02:00 PM PDT Heads up: Buying via our links may result in us getting a commission. [Here’s why.]( [B.R.’s Waxed Canvas Bags / Accessories – $29.70 – $95.40*]( ($49.50 – $159) About the Author: Graham B. is apparently a powertrain engineer with a questionable devotion to Italian cars. When not building an engine for his personal or customer projects, he enjoys reading fiction, training for 5k races, and chicken pickin’ on his Telecaster guitar. With their new waxed canvas lineup, Banana Republic introduces a hefty, workwear feel to their baggage offerings. Will most customers be dragging these things through the desert, or toting them to the assembly line day after day? Certainly not. But, I can’t fault Banana Republic for leaning hard on the drab, utilitarian aesthetic of brown waxed canvas; these are attractive bags. By offering a variety of bags, Banana Republic presents buyers with the opportunity to, presumably, assemble a coordinating set of bags. Too fussy for some, sure, but I’m all for it. Better still, those who already own brown waxed canvas offerings from, say, [J. Crew]( or Gustin, can add to their existing baggage arrays with selections from BR’s waxed canvas collection. Here’s quick, in person reviews, from three out of the five new waxed canvas offerings from BR: [Waxed Canvas Large Tote – $83.40]( ($139.00) [Banana Republic Waxed Canvas Large Tote on Dappered.com]( A tough sell for some, the tote bag. You know, the go-to vessel for schlepping Chihuahuas. But boy, are they great for quick packing. When I take my car to a track day, I end up removing all of my loose personal items in order to meet the track regulations – and where do I stash them? In a tote bag, master of consolidation. Maybe your friends hold regular game nights – the tote bag readily transports a bottle of wine, a board game, and, I don’t know, a gaming console to your friends’ place. And, pet owners? Weekend trips with the dogs are as simple as tossing a couple of dog bowls, harnesses, and leashes into the main pouch. The waxed canvas large tote is essentially [BR’s already existing polyester large tote bag]( constructed from – you guessed it – waxed canvas. A small [zipper pouch]( inside [the large confines]( aides in quick location of essentials, while a zipper on the main pouch section prevents spills, should the bag tip over, as well as protection from the elements, should the skies open up. An open pocket stitched between the handle straps on one side of the bag provides quick access to smaller items. Unlined inside, the tote bag nonetheless maintains a rigid structure, standing on its own without much protest. The plastic zipper, no doubt a cost reduction, doesn’t impress. And, where you would expect leather handles, you’ll find cotton webbing, albeit in an appealing olive color. At 13.75” x 16” x 7.9” it could stand in for a small duffle as a personal item on a flight, and fits neatly behind a car seat. The base is wide enough to permit packing of clothing or a set of shoes. Overall, considering its strong functionality and handsome design, I am pleased to conclude that yes, it’s [totes]( a solid tote. [Waxed Canvas Briefcase – $95.40]( ($159.00) [Banana Republic Waxed Canvas Briefcase on Dappered.com]( Raise your hand if you’re still going strong with the black nylon laptop bag that your IT department provided with your work laptop. While I can’t save you from your cubicle farm – [and honestly, open-concept workspace alternatives might introduce more complaints than they address]( – I can suggest a minor upgrade to your daily laptop lugging in the form of a waxed canvas briefcase. [Inside](, you’ll find a thinly padded laptop compartment for up to a 15” laptop, as well as a zippered pocket and two organizers for chargers and smaller electronics. A large flap pocket with snap enclosure spans the backside of the briefcase, while twin hooded zipper pouches sit on the front. A subtle black camo pattern adorns the polyester lining. An odd choice, but it works. The shoulder strap – olive webbed cotton, like the grab handles – is removable like in most similar briefcases. Neither the handles nor the shoulder strap offer any form of padding, so those not driving to the office might find them somewhat lacking in the comfort department. Stitching is neat, with reinforcement to prevent the straps from separating from the bag. Does it stack up to the now seemingly discontinued [J. Crew Waxed Canvas Abingdon Briefcase](? Not quite – the Abingdon’s brass hardware and leather handles outshine the more basic hardware and handles on the Banana Republic unit. And, the wax coating on the BR briefcase is seriously light. But given the general lack of availability of the J. Crew option, the Banana Republic represents a very serviceable option south of a c-note (when on sale, which is often, like… now). [Waxed Canvas Dopp Kit – $41.70]( ($69.50) [Banana Republic Waxed Canvas Dopp Kit on Dappered.com]( This is a respectable entry-level dopp kit offering from Banana Republic. Does it make sense that there exist multiple tiers for what, essentially, amounts to a toothbrush and razor bag? I’ll just leave [this]( here… Outside, a flap pocket with a snap closure handles quick-access storage. The canvas is oddly lacking for wax – present, but just barely. For some reason, the grab handle is cut from a black material, whereas the rest of the collection makes use of a more interesting olive – not unattractive, but the lack of uniformity throughout the collection seemed odd to me. The black carries into the nylon [interior of the bag](, where two open compartments and a zippered mesh compartment take care of organization. For anyone who has ever accidentally grabbed the business end of razor, the zippered compartment is a welcome feature. With much more appealing options available from the likes of Gustin, the BR dopp kit only makes a case for itself when on sale. *Note: Prices above reflect a pretty standard (but not perpetual) 40% off discount. BR runs a lot of sales. Sometimes these are excluded, and sometimes they get the discount. Their promotion which is running through today (9/30/19) DOES include these. But that promotion is set to expire tonight. If you’re a GAP inc. cardmember? You can take an additional 20% off with the code 20BRCARD. So that works out to $67 for the tote, $76 for the briefcase, and $33 for the dopp. ff/Dappered?a=OC8TPnQIdGc:-9zY1IairP4:yIl2AUoC8zA ff/Dappered?a=OC8TPnQIdGc:-9zY1IairP4:qj6IDK7rITs ff/Dappered?a=OC8TPnQIdGc:-9zY1IairP4:gIN9vFwOqvQ [Bonobos: 25% off Sitewide (with lots of new fall arrivals)](r/Dappered/~3/VqhSH2bF36Q/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email) Posted: 30 Sep 2019 06:38 AM PDT Heads up: Buying via our links may result in us getting a commission. [Here’s why.]( [QUARTERBACK = 25% off full price & sale items]( This feels like the first major sale for Bonobos of the season. It’s been all end-of-summer sale stuff up to this point, and unlike their competition, they don’t do huge (like 40%-50% off) cuts on their regular price stuff. So 25% off is solid. ([Tell ’em T.O.!!]() Maybe not mind blowing, but solid. [Especially considering the flood of new arrivals that have been recently landing on their site](. Also as a point of order, Bonobos recently killed off their “evergreen” ECLIPSE20 20% off code in favor of a not quite as tempting SOLSTICE15 all-the-time offer. That seems to indicate that maybe, just maybe, they’re tightening up the ol’ promotions belt. Perhaps. Who knows. Not me. But I do know that the 25% off sitewide code QUARTERBACK is quite solid for Bonobos. Plus you get there famous customer service Ninjas and free shipping and returns. Full picks below. Off we go. [Unconstructed Italian Hopsack Wool Solid Sportcoats – $300]( ($400) [Bonobos Unconstructed Italian Hopsack Wool Solid Sportcoats]( I know that Bonobos was founded as a pants company, and their chinos and how they fit are their “thing.” But to me? These unconstructed, Italian hopsack wool sportcoats are the best thing they make. Period. And they make some mighty fine other things. Super airy but still 4-season appropriate Italian hopsack wool. It drapes great, it feels great, it breathes exceptionally well. And the barely-there construction ensures that you wear the sportcoat. The sportcoat doesn’t wear you. [Unconstructed Italian Hopsack Wool blend Patterned Sportcoats – $337.50]( ($450) [Bonobos Unconstructed Italian Hopsack Wool blend Patterned Sportcoats]( For those that want some plaids or checks to their sportcoats, but still want the super unconstructed nature of what Bonobos offers with this model. Plenty of year round looks as well as darker, more saturated patterns for fall. [Corduroy 5-Pocket Pants – $73.50]( ($98) [Bonobos Corduroy 5-Pocket Pants]( Are there cheaper cords out there? [Yes there are](. But some of you guys really, really like your Bonobos stuff. So, here be the new cords from Bonobos. Fabric mix is interesting this year: 78% Cotton, 20% Modal, 2% Elastane. [O rly?]( [Premium Stretch Jeans – $111]( ($148) [Bonobos Premium Stretch Jeans]( I know they’re expensive. But still. These are their top of the line jeans. Plenty of stretch: 94% Cotton, 5% Polyester, 1% Elastane. A bit like BR’s Rapid movement fabric, but maybe a little better. Lots of washes. Shown above left is the resin rinse in size 32×28, athletic fit, on Jason’s 5’7″/180 frame. I (the Joe guy) usually take a 34×30 in athletic fit on my 5’10” / 200lb frame. [Made in the USA Italian Brushed 5-Pocket Pant – $111]( ($148) [Bonobos Made in the USA Italian Brushed 5-Pocket Pant]( Super soft. Even, perhaps… cozy? Just in time for fall. Made in America from Italian brushed 97% cotton / 3% elastane. People will want to touch your pants. Don’t get them if you don’t want people touching your pants. [Bonobos Italian Wool Car Coat – $298.50]( ($398) [Bonobos Italian Wool Car Coat]( Oh man. That burgundy plaid option. That is ALL kinds of right. Car Coats = single breasted, and often a tad shorter than your average topcoat, but still long enough to protect your suit or sportcoat tail. 66% Wool, 31% Polyamide, 2% Acrylic, 1% Polyester. Half lined. [Jetsetter Stretch Wool Sportcoats – $300 – $337.50]( ($400 – $450) [Bonobos Jetsetter Stretch Wool Sportcoats]( What’s the difference between these and the unconstructed Italian Wool Sportcoats? The lining. They’re either fully lined or butterfly lined in the back with a full lining up front. They also have some strategically placed interior pockets to hold your necessities while on the move (say, passport, wallet, etc.) Still, terrific sportcoats and good for those who prefer a bit more structure (but still far from the hard shouldered stuff your Uncle Harold wore in the 80s). Most are all Italian wool with some stretch, while others are wool/cotton blends. [Stretch Eco Jeans – $66]( ($88) [Bonobos Stretch Eco Jeans]( These are a brand new jean for Bonobos. Just released. Cheaper. Not cheap, cheaper. Not so hyper stretchy in terms of fabric (98% Certified Organic Cotton, 2% Elastane). Still efforting an in person. [Stretch Washed Chinos – $73.50]( ($98) [Bonobos Stretched Washed Chinos]( I’d say these are the originals that built the Bonobos empire, but they aren’t. Bonobos has phased out their original, all cotton chinos, in favor of their stretch versions. Still though, these are the new flagship. And Bonobos was built on pants, and for good reason. Tons and tons and tons of colors to pick from, and more than a few fits to fit plenty of body types. [Bonobos Wool Quilted Bomber – $223.50]( ($298) [Bonobos Wool Quilted Bomber]( Hearty Italian wool-blend fabric. (And it’s quite the blend: 36% Wool | 30% Polyester | 19% Viscose | 11% Acrylic | 3% Silk | 1% Elastane.) Subtle pattern. Zip or snap front. [Travel Jeans – $73.50]( ($98) [Bonobos Travel Jeans]( A more saturated, 5-pocket style of do anything pants. Nine different colors to pick from. Four fits, and FIVE lengths to pick from. Great for guys who are short, tall, and everything in between. [Bonobos Quilted Shirt Jacket – $126]( ($168) [Bonobos Quilted Shirt Jacket]( The “shacket” has been going strong for a couple of years now (in terms of being on trend, shirt jackets have been around for forever). And I’m really digging that “medieval blue” shade. Quilted interior for warmth here, making it more than just a shirt with a fancy name. [Stretch Wool Dress Pants – $148.50]( ($198) [Bonobos Stretch Wool Dress Pants]( Stretch wools for the office crowd. 99% wool and 1% elastane for comfort. Plenty of colors and patterns to pick from. Lots of fits as well. [Corduroy Shirt Jackets – $126]( ($168) [Bonobos Corduroy Shirt Jackets]( Is $126 a lot of money for a corduroy shirt jacket? Yes indeed. But… that burgundy option. [Flannel Lined Chinos – $88.50]( ($118) [Bonobos Flannel Lined Chinos]( To all those who every. single. year. live in warm weather climates and hit our social media feeds when the new fall arrivals come out and tell us “IT’S STILL LIKE 100 DEGREES WHERE I LIVE…” You’re not allowed to buy these or any other cheaper version. Sorry. Have another mai tai. [Bonobos Daily Grind Suits – $300]( ($400) [Bonobos Daily Grind Suit]( - [Daily Grind Suit in Light Grey – $300]( ($400) - [Daily Grind Suit in Light Navy – $300]( ($400) - [Daily Grind Suit in Navy – $300]( ($400) - [Daily Grind Suit in Charcoal – $300]( ($400) Here’s why these almost certainly fused, 60% Wool, 40% Polyester suits are getting a mention. The fit. The Bonobos fit is tough to replicate. A lot of guys with either super slim OR super thick legs swear by it (and yes, even those of you somewhere in between). And $400, I’d say just get a Spier and Mackay. But here? At $300? I think that qualifies as a deal. Plus, these are sold as suit separates. So you’re not locked into some suit “drop” zone, and the pants come pre-hemmed. Perhaps you could even skip the tailor. 3 1/4″ lapels here. Side vents in the rear. They do say the jackets are slightly shorter. Fingers crossed they’re not chopped. [The sadly NOT getting the discount: Their New Shoes]( [Bonobos Shoes]( So I guess the “everything” in their “25% off everything” marketing materials doesn’t actually mean “EVERYTHING.” Because shoes are excluded. Bummer. Made in Italy though. We’ll keep an eye out for any solid sales on these things. The 25% off everything code QUARTERBACK ends Wednesday 10/2. Works on full price [as well as sale stuff]( ff/Dappered?a=VqhSH2bF36Q:nQh6vV31vN8:yIl2AUoC8zA ff/Dappered?a=VqhSH2bF36Q:nQh6vV31vN8:qj6IDK7rITs ff/Dappered?a=VqhSH2bF36Q:nQh6vV31vN8:gIN9vFwOqvQ You are subscribed to email updates from [Dappered Style Mail]().
