[Dappered | Huckberry Summer Clearance, Zappos Clearance, & More – The Thurs. Men’s Sales Handful]() --------------------------------------------------------------- - [Huckberry Summer Clearance, Zappos Clearance, & More – The Thurs. Men’s Sales Handful](#1) - [The Playlist – July 2019](#2) - [In Review: The EXPRESS 365 Comfort Stretch+ Chino](#3) [Huckberry Summer Clearance, Zappos Clearance, & More – The Thurs. Men’s Sales Handful](r/Dappered/~3/YbAt2pOhQtk/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email) Posted: 25 Jul 2019 03:00 AM PDT Heads up: Buying via our links may result in us getting a commission. [Here’s why.]( Sales that deserve some attention heading into the weekend or a bit earlier. Might not be some massive once a year event, but still worth a look. Those are what make up these handfuls. Five of the better sales, one for each finger, are below, plus bonus sales if need be. Included are a few picks worth pointing out. [Huckberry: Big Summer Clearance Event]( [Huckberry]( - [Made in the USA Flint & Tinder Breaker Trunks – $50.98]( ($68) - [Armor-Lux Double Jagger Stripe – $69.98]( ($109) - [Grayers Newport 3 Button Blazer – $125.98]( ($195) - [Made in the USA Flint and Tinder Rinse Jeans in Slim or Straight – $82.98]( ($118) - [Mystery Ranch In & Out – Packable Backpack – 19L – $58.98 – $64.98]( ($79) - [Free Fly Bamboo Slacktide SS Henley – $31.98]( ($50) Gear and clothes and home goods and E.D.C. and much more. That’s what’s in Huckberry’s biiiiiiig summer clearance event. Prepare to scroll. But if you’re a Huckberry fan (my hand is raised) scrolling can be kinda fun. Meanwhile, if you don’t want to do as much scrolling, their editor’s put together [some of which they think is the best of the best from this big clearance event right here](. [Nordstrom Rack: Clear the Racks extra 25% off Clearance Items]( [Nordstrom Rack]( - [Calibrate 50% wool/50% poly Extra Trim Fit Tuxedo Shawl Jacket]( & [Matching pant – $119.95]( total - [1901 Marled Slub Slim Fit Polo – $11.22]( ($49.50) - [Good Man Brand Uptown Trim Fit Solid Wool Blend Sport Coat – $149.98]( ($498) - [Nordstrom Men’s Shop Troy Trim Fit Wool Blend Coat – $104.98]( ($349) - [Todd Snyder & Champion Bomber Jacket – $149.98]( ($498) - [Cole Haan Grandpro Runner Stitchlite Sneaker in Black]( or [Gray – $56.24]( ($140) - [To Boot New York made in Italy Double Monks – $127.48]( ($395) - [Timex Waterbury Leather Strap Watch, 40mm – $33.86]( ($129) - [Timex MK1 Chronograph Nylon Strap Watch, 40mm – $31.24]( ($119) More clearance. And sizes are super scattered. Stuff can move quick when it comes to Nordstrom Rack, especially during clear the racks time. This is the very tail end of this stock. Prices are as marked online. That red line price you see already has the extra 25% knocked off taken into account. [Zappos: Extra 20% off select w/ BDAY20](//www.zappos.com/men/OgLrK8ABAuABAeICAwcYHA.zso?s=isNew/desc/goLiveDate/desc/recentSalesStyle/desc/) [Zappos](//www.zappos.com/men/OgLrK8ABAuABAeICAwcYHA.zso?s=isNew/desc/goLiveDate/desc/recentSalesStyle/desc/) - [Timex Todd Snyder Waterbury Chrono 42mm in Black or Gray – $88.79](//www.zappos.com/p/timex-todd-snyder-waterbury-chrono-42mm-grey-grey/product/9113596/color/4870) ($158) - [Timex Todd Snyder Military 40mm Box Set – $76.79](//www.zappos.com/p/timex-todd-snyder-military-40mm-box-set-olive-cream-camo/product/9113602/color/774372) ($138) - [Timex Todd Snyder Black Jack 40mm – $76.79](//www.zappos.com/p/timex-todd-snyder-black-jack-40mm-black-white-blue/product/9113597/color/31320) ($138) - [Smartwool Merino Sport 150 Polo – $51.99](//www.zappos.com/p/smartwool-merino-sport-150-polo-light-gray-heather/product/9152426/color/290581) ($80)  - [Smartwool Lightweight No-Shows – $10.04](//www.zappos.com/p/smartwool-no-show-white/product/9213537/color/14) ($13.95) these are awesome btw… - [To Boot New York Caracas Made in Italy Chelseas – $156](//www.zappos.com/p/to-boot-new-york-caracas-dark-brown-suede/product/9094394/color/2529) ($325) - [adidas Originals 3-Stripes Tee – $24.79](//www.zappos.com/p/adidas-originals-3-stripes-tee-vapour-steel/product/8979589/color/625084) ($35) EVEN MORE CLEARANCE. Zappos doesn’t usually mess around with codes or promos like this. So an extra 20% off over 12,000 items that are already marked down? Not bad. Super fast shipping being that it’s Zappos. A cacophony of clearance. Clearance collage, clearance collage, imagine I wrote not of fashion, but instead featured fromage. I would collage together, cheeses for all of the world to see, and then I’d have to come to terms, with the fact that I don’t like brie. The end. [J. Crew Factory: New Arrivals + 40% off]( [J. Crew Factory]( - [Printed slim flex casual short-sleeve shirt – $24.50]( - [Long-sleeve broken-in henley – $20.50]( - [Slim heathered washed jersey pocket T-shirt – $12.95Â]( - [Walker vest – $54.50]( - [Thompson suit jacket in navy tweed wool – $139]( - [Thompson suit jacket in brown tweed – $190]( Tweed? TWEED? Ain’t it a little early for TWEED? I guess not, since the retail calendar is always a few months ahead. But still. Sheesh. Tweed. Already. My slow march to the grave doesn’t seem to be so slow right now. One day I’m gonna wake up and I’m gonna be dead. [And then nobody will want to work with me](. [Suitsupply: Fingers Crossed for an Outlet Restock?]( [Suitsupply]( This thing launched on Monday with some good items, but not a ton of variety or stock. No bags this time. Not as many shoes as last time. Just not a ton of stuff. But they have done restocks during past online outlet events. Perhaps they’ll do that again this time? I have no inside info here. This is just a hope. Code is FINALSALE for access. [BONUS Nordstrom: Anniversary Sale runs through 8/4]( [Nordstrom]( - [Nordstrom Trim Fit Non-Iron Solid Dress Shirt – $35.90]( ($49.50) - [1901 Ballard Slim Fit Stretch Chino Pants – $38.90]( ($59.50) - [Nordstrom Tech-Smart Slim Fit Stretch Wool Travel Trousers – $84.90]( ($129) - [Nordstrom Bradley Chelsea Boot – $79.90]( ($124.95) Still going strong. Picks above have been limited to stuff from Nordy’s in-house brands (which are really darn good quite frankly), and like everything else they sell, it all ships and returns free of charge. [Full picks here](. Also worth a mention: - [Club Monaco]( Extra 40% off sale styles. - [DROP](: The [Bambino Small Seconds Automatic is back for $139](, but no champagne dial. [Review here](. - [Jomers]( They’ve got some [USA milled Cone Denim 99% cotton / 1% spandex Slim Fit Jeans]( (Made in Egypt) going for $38. Don’t think it’s selvedge, but, it’s a chance to get some US Cone Denim after they shut the factory down. - [Ledbury]( Up to 60% off during their summer sale. ff/Dappered?a=YbAt2pOhQtk:MMRtNQVg37c:yIl2AUoC8zA ff/Dappered?a=YbAt2pOhQtk:MMRtNQVg37c:qj6IDK7rITs ff/Dappered?a=YbAt2pOhQtk:MMRtNQVg37c:gIN9vFwOqvQ [The Playlist – July 2019](r/Dappered/~3/G4uJVwRV1Cw/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email) Posted: 24 Jul 2019 02:00 PM PDT Heads up: Buying via our links may result in us getting a commission. [Here’s why.]( Music is a little like [food]( and clothes. These are areas where it’s probably worthwhile for one to explore & expand their tastes. The Playlist is assembled each month by [Dappered’s very own music correspondent]( Tim Johnstone. Tim is a former Virgin Records Label Rep & current award winning Program Director at [KRVB](, which was awarded the FMQB AAA station of the year markets 50+. You can also catch his work on Fridays when he assembles [the Weekend Reset](. Got a Spotify account? You’ll find a link to this month’s playlist at the end of the post. [The Black Keys – “Shine A Little Light”]( Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney are back after 5 years doing solo work, production work and other collaborations, and their new collection “Let’s Rock” is full of the stuff we love. [Labrinth – “All For Us”]( Labrinth is one of the most exciting voices in pop music right now. Via his [collaborations with Sia and Diplo](group)), and through his solo work, he has consistently produced innovative, imaginative musical and vocals arrangements. He has all of the vocal strengths of John Legend but he’s willing to be…different. [Ed Sheeran – “Blow” Featuring Bruno Mars and Chris Stapleton]( “Yo Ed.” “Yeah?” “Bet you can’t make a sexy ass song that’s gonna have all the people thinkin’  ‘AWWW SHIT IM GONNA F*CK TONIGHT!” [Also Ed.]( [Drew Holcomb & The Neighbors – “End Of The World”]( Drew Holcomb and his band manage to make the end of the world sound sort of like a party. I guess that would be a glass half-filled take on the whole thing. [Belle & Sebastian – “Sister Buddha”]( New Belle & Sebastian? Why yes please. They’ve done a soundtrack to the movie version of a Scottish graphic novel? Sweet. That it sounds like classic B&S? Perfect. [Michael Franti & Spearhead – “You’re Number One”]( Sometimes all you want out of the Summer is a kind-of-goofy, little bit cheesy song that puts you in a great mood. As one of the nicest humans I have ever met, Michael Franti is a master of the art: this song is 100% positivity and I’m pretty certain we could all use a bit of that right now. [Billie Eilish – “bury a friend”]( Having recently spent four days in a car with my 13 year old god-daughter, I have become a fan of Miss Eilish. While she and her brother Finneas O’Connell are certainly doing things their own way, they make use of many musical touch points from the 80’s and 90’s which anchors much of the fun. And despite some of the creepiness inherent in Eilish’s approach, this is still pretty fun. [TORCHE – “Admission”]( I have no idea what sub genre of Rock N Roll this is, and I’m ok with that. Because these guys whip up a dense, cacophony of guitars, vocals, and distortion for those who enjoy this sort of thing. I include myself among that list. Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds – “Black Star Dancing” (The Reflex Version) Noel Gallagher, remixed. This is pretty much grade A Mancunian. A bit of nod to the classic Brit Pop and old school New Wave which ruled the charts in the 80’s and 90’s. Doesn’t appear to be available for a one-off purchase (does anyone buy music anymore? Or is it all monthly membership driven now?) but it seems to be on all the streaming platforms. [Society Of The Silver Cross – “The Mighty Factory Of Death”]( Americana Gothic. I don’t mean that as a quip. It is in fact a compliment. I am really taken with this Seattle bands approach to gothic music. This organic template suggests elements of old American blues, Appalachian folk music, dark wave rock and if I’m being honest, Kurt Cobain. Again, compliment. Repeated listenings provide additional rewards and appreciation of what they have created. [Freddie Gibbs and Madlib  – “Giannis” feat. Anderson .Paak]( Just. Push. Play. [Spoon – “No Bullets Spent”]( I’m pretty much a Spoon fanboy. I will not apologize for this. Britt Daniel’s band arrived with a wholly intact sound (as heard on the fantastic Soft Effects release from ’97) and has just improved since then. “No Bullets Spent” is another great song in a rich discography. This is the lone new track included on an upcoming best-of collection available this week. [Prophets Of Rage – “Made With Hate” (HEADS UP: explicit lyrics)]( Prophets of Rage have one of the most incendiary resumes in music. They are basically Rage Against The Machine minus Zach de la Rocha but with Chuck D and DJ Lord of Public Enemy and B Real from Cypress Hill. Yeah, they are all older, but they still are angry and they still rock. No subtleties here. [Leif Vollebekk – “Hot Tears”]( This Canadian singer-songwriter has been finding a wider audience with each release. It’s easy to hear why. “Hot Tears” is the first single from an upcoming full length. This is honest and direct, intimate and warm. Vollebekk’s vocals drift through the arrangement, which gives the impression that you are right there in the moment. [Manchester Orchestra – “My Backwards Walk”]( This one still hurts. Scottish band Frightened Rabbits were in the process of celebrating the 10th anniversary of their break out album The Midnight Organ Fight when lead singer Scott Hutchison took his life. His legacy includes some truly powerful songs, many of which are included on the finally realized TINY CHANGES: A CELEBRATION OF THE MIDNIGHT ORGAN FIGHT. This album, which replicated the original with versions recorded by friends of the band, is so very bittersweet. Manchester Orchestra deliver a brilliant version of “My Backwards Walk” and in doing so provide an idea of what you can expect from this project. [Rick Ross – “BIG TYME” featuring Swizzled Beatz]( Big time indeed. [BONES UK – “Choke”]( Two women from the UK who bring the noise with big beats and a whole lot of attitude. This is a good thing. [THE CLASSIC: Soul II Soul – “Get A Life”]( For a couple of years there, it seemed like Soul II Soul defined the sound of London. Jazzie B and Caron Wheeler led a sound system collective of singers and fashion designers who transformed London’s music scene. I would be quite happy if this sound made a comeback. [Here’s why.]( [EXPRESS Slim 365 Comfort Stretch+ Chino – $47.94](//www.express.com/clothing/men/slim-365-comfort-stretch-chino/pro/03083139/color/Chalk/?AID=11553913&PID=4025845&CID=550&pubname=Dappered&pubID=4025845&SID=&CJEVENT=1e6e962babf811e9805601b60a1c0e13) when 40% off ($79.90) NOTE: These are currently at full price. But as is the case with EXPRESS, there’s always another promo train comin’. About the Author: Brandon D. is [a recently married]( trial attorney living in Houston, TX (but will forever be a New Yorker). Brandon has been wearing a suit to work for the better part of a decade, so he appreciates the insights into quality-yet-affordable style options for which Dappered is known. When not at work, he enjoys traveling with his wife, lounging with his dog Charlie (she’s half-Chihuahua/half-Dachshund, which has the added bonus of being known as a “Chiweenie”), and the weekly trip to Costco. It’s now late-July in Texas, so the local weatherman is regularly saying things like “While it feels like 106, it’s only 95.” Okay … both are terrible, but just say it’s 106!! Anyways, [because of my job](, I’m always in pursuit of weather-appropriate dress pants, and I got word from Joe that Express may have something for me. I believe he said I was the “pants man.” (Editor’s Note: This is true. Brandon is many things, and one of which, to me, is “[The Pants Man.](“) Of course, you’re all encouraged to write about pants too, but this is my turf. [You drinkin’ my sake, ke-mo sah-bee?]( And with that, onto the review. [Express](//www.express.com/clothing/men/slim-365-comfort-stretch-chino/pro/03083139/color/Chalk/?AID=11553913&PID=4025845&CID=550&pubname=Dappered&pubID=4025845&SID=&CJEVENT=1e6e962babf811e9805601b60a1c0e13) Just five colors. (BR Core Temp has ten.) Some of which could be tough to pull off in some workplaces. Made from 64% cotton, 33% polyester, and 3% spandex/elasthane, these pants look and feel much more like traditional chinos than [a pure-poly option at Old Navy](. But here’s the million dollar (or, fifty – sixty dollar, depending on sales) question: Are they as good as [the BR Core Temp Chinos](? I can’t go that far. But they’re approximately $10 cheaper when both are on sale for 40% off, and it seems like the EXPRESS option might go on sale more often. Banana Republic’s Core Temp? Almost always (but not always) excluded from their promotions. And these EXPRESS alternatives are still quite versatile. In fact, I would venture to say that many would prefer these to the core temps when taking price into consideration. [In Review: The EXPRESS 365 Comfort Stretch+ Chino | Dappered.com](//www.express.com/clothing/men/slim-365-comfort-stretch-chino/pro/03083139/color/Chalk/?AID=11553913&PID=4025845&CID=550&pubname=Dappered&pubID=4025845&SID=&CJEVENT=1e6e962babf811e9805601b60a1c0e13) Size 36W x 32L on 5’11, 195lbs. Color is “Cobblestone.” What jumps out to me is the look and the feel. These aren’t shiny. There’s no “swish swish” when you walk. To the naked eye, they are regular chinos (slanted front pockets and back pockets that fasten close). And yet, they offer plenty of stretch. They’re slim, but not too slim (those of us on Team Leg Day may rejoice!), look great with a casual-leaning blazer, or no jacket and just a polo, button down, or [back-in-style print shirt from somewhere like Bonobos](. And in terms of size, I recommend either ordering your normal size in chinos or going slightly down. (I normally take 34 or 35 … 35 isn’t available, and post-honeymoon, I was worried 34 would be too small. The 36 was good but I would definitely tailor to make smaller). [In Review: The EXPRESS 365 Comfort Stretch+ Chino | Dappered.com](//www.express.com/clothing/men/slim-365-comfort-stretch-chino/pro/03083139/color/Chalk/?AID=11553913&PID=4025845&CID=550&pubname=Dappered&pubID=4025845&SID=&CJEVENT=1e6e962babf811e9805601b60a1c0e13) The chambray accent around the waist. Easily hidden by belt if you don’t like it. Despite this praise, these pants have two notable flaws: the odd stripe at the belt-line and the color options. The stripe most likely won’t matter to you. When I saw it on the site, I thought the model was just wearing a really slim belt. When they arrived, I thought the stripe was an odd addition, but one that would never be seen because I always wear a belt (apologies to the suspenders community). Can you wear the majority of color options at work? I sure can’t. So 60% of the options would never make it to my office. And the “cobblestone” pants I received looked browner on the website and greyer in real life. I much prefer grey pants to brown, but I was definitely surprised and wonder if the other colors look different in real life too. Overall, these pants are a welcome addition to the tech pants community. Slightly cheaper than the reigning champ, Express offers a versatile option I fully recommend.
