(Mallorie Sullivan / DMN staff illustration) Â Texas Gov. Matthew McConaughey? That's what a lot of y'all were talking about recently. A [Dallas Morning News/University of Texas at Tyler poll released last week]( showed that, should the actor take the plunge and run for office, 45% of Texas registered voters would vote for McConaughey, 33% would vote for Abbott and 22% would vote for someone else, should the actor take the plunge and run for office. While some were alright, alright, alright with the results, others were left wondering if it would even be possible. (It's doubtful, [political columnist Gromer Jeffers wrote Monday.](
Here's what you said. â¬ï¸   "I think (Matthew McConaughey) would make a great Governor of Texas. Heâs an 'of the people, for the people' kind of guy, which is what Texas desperately needs right now. Hey, if actor Ronald Reagan could become a Governor and a President, then Matthew McConaughey can sure enough become Governor of the Lone Star State."â Nancy Webber Bryant, [Facebook]( "Thatâs cool if he wants to enter the political arena but I think a better stepping stone would be running for mayor of Austin and seeing show he performs before going up to governor."
â @TastyPastry33, [Reddit]( "Letâs give (Matthew McConaughey) a chance to lay out his vision and policy proposals. Texas could use fresh thinking and new blood to solve its problems."â @matthew_schuster_, [Instagram]( "Just because he might align with your views, I donât think his world experience lends it to managing and governing a state. Love him but not for governor without getting some years of experience under his belt."
