IPID cracks down on SAPS senior officials, small tremor felt in Johannesburg

They were arrested on charges of fraud and corruption after IPID opted to act on the pair. Their charges relate to a massive [blue lights tender.]( Weekend plans cancelled for the two, then. [Motion of no-Bobani fails]( A 12-hour session to vote on removing Nelson Mandela Bay Mayor Mongameli Bobani has fallen flat. The city council did not vote on the motion, brought about on Thursday night by the Patriotic Alliance. For minority parties who helped oust the DA's Athol Trollip, life under Bobani has not been the empowering gravy train they had been promised. [Click here for more.]( [Joburg hit with minor tremor]( A 3.8-magnitude tremor was felt throughout Johannesburg today. Originating in the West Rand, near the Harmony Doornkop mining area, the "seismic disturbance" was felt by many residents in the city. A minor tremor such as this was unlikely to cause much alarm, but expect some cocktails tonight to be shaken, not stirred. [SAA lays charges against pilot]( The national carrier has laid fraud charges against a pilot who went on flights with the wrong licence. The pilot had operated international flights on a basic Commercial Pilot Licence when he was required to possess an Airline Transport Pilot Licence. In its statement SAA had revealed that it "assumed" the pilot possessed the right licences.
