[Daily Maverick]( Saturday, 19 May 2018 “Sometimes letting things go is an act of far greater power than defending or hanging on.” ― Eckhart Tolle PICTURE OF THE WEEK By EPA-EFE/ANDY RAIN A man draped in a Harry and Meghan flag walks through Windsor, one day ahead of the royal wedding ceremony of Britain's Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle, in Windsor, Britain, 18 May 2018. THIS WEEK'S WRAP-UP [Moyane goes to war with Ramaphosa]( Suspended SARS boss Tom Moyane has fired his next volley against President Ramaphosa. After a settlement was taken off the table, Moyane sought to have the head of his disciplinary inquiry, Kate O’Regan removed. All of this is aimed at buying time until Moyane can take Ramaphosa to court directly. All of it screams of a desperate man clutching at legal straws, however. [Land expropriation sets the tone for ANC]( While the week may have started with violent protests in Hermanus over land rights, the ANC appeared to have finished it with verbosity. Both Gauteng Premier [David Makhura]( and President Ramaphosa issued statements supporting land expropriation, if not through land invasions. The narrative, while politically expedient, could land the ruling party in serious electoral trouble next year. [Israeli soldiers kill over 100 Palestinians]( While Trump's family were overseeing the opening of the US embassy in Jerusalem, Israeli troops were mopping up the first day of a multi-day series of violence against Palestinian protestors. In the end, over 100 Palestinians were killed by Israeli soldiers. On Monday, in exchange for 60 dead, one Israeli soldier had been lightly wounded by a stone. Tel Aviv justified the killings, the largest since 2014, as an act of self-defence. [Prince Harry to wed Meghan Markle]( The Royal Markle wedding sparkle is about to reach fever pitch. Throngs of serfs and general British minions crowded the streets of Windsor on Friday to catch a glimpse of Prince Harry, or even William if he was about. And about they were, walking past the crowd shaking hands and greeting fans. Perhaps most important of all these events, beyond the implications of the wedding for the Royal family, is the importing of a common Beagle - one of Markle's dogs - into the Queen's corgi pack. What made this one special was that 'Dividing the Element' was the first metal album recorded primarily in an African language (other than Afrikaans). Based in Zimbabwe, DtE's vocals are almost entirely in Shona. Give it a listen [right here.]( [FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO A FRIEND]( Copyright © 2018 Daily Maverick, All rights reserved.
