[Daily Maverick] Thursday, 19 April 2018 [Afriforum go for Malema's legal throat]( Afriforum has sicced its legal bulldog, Advocate Gerrie Nel, against a rather big target. Today, Afriforum announced it would be pursuing private charges against Malema on an array of corruption-related charges dating back to 2011. The NPA has sat on the "court-ready" case for almost three years. Enough, it seems, is enough for Afriforum. Malema's reply was characteristically to the point today, Tweeting, “Bring it on bloody racists, you don’t scare me at all. I’m born ready! No white man will decide my destiny, the poor masses of our people will…” [Motata's impeachment creates anti-racism hat trick]( The Judicial Conduct Tribunal opted today to recommend the impeachment of Judge Nkola Motata for making racist comments while drunk. When combined with Wednesday's dismissal of Vicki Momberg's appeal and the resignation Imperial CEO Mark Lamberti over his own racist remarks, the concept of infringed dignity, or lack thereof, has come to the fore in South Africa's lawscape. [Queen requests son to head Commonwealth]( Queen Elizabeth II has expressed her desire for Prince Charles to succeed her as the figurehead of the Commonwealth organisation. The position, to be debated on Friday, is not a hereditary one. Thus, having a country's nepotistic dynasty recommend further nepotism to the Commonwealth might seem as normal as a tea shipment from the colonies, but could well see Prince Charles being usurped by any number of potential candidates. [Land rights regressed under ANC - UWC]( A study published by the University of the Western Cape has established that the ANC has harmed progress for black South Africans' land rights. Academics at the Plaas Institute for Poverty, Land and Agrarian Studies argued that hundreds of thousands of workers on farms that had been redistributed had themselves been removed from the premises, creating far more substantial rights violations than the ANC government redressed.
