Friend, part of the insidiousness of the Trump administration was the clear agenda of sabotaging our institutions from the inside out. Trump loyalists continue to operate from this playbook and it has dastardly implications for our democracy. The violence of the January 6 insurrection was a last-ditch effort to overturn the 2020 election. However, Trump first tried to apply pressure to attorneys general and secretaries of state, as well as file a deluge of lawsuits in our courts. Now, hundreds of MAGA enthusiasts are on the ballot across the nation, many in positions vital to overseeing our elections. [Daily Kos has endorsed a slate of candidates running for secretary of state, attorney general, and state supreme court in eight crucial states. Donate $1 to each of our endorsed candidates and help head off further attempts to rig and outright steal our elections.]( [DONATE]( We defeated an attempted overthrow of our government despite the support of an alarming number of elected officials. Thankfully, even a few staunch Trump supporters refused to put party over duty and held the line that elections must not be interfered with. But we must treat January 6 as a rehearsal, and assume the MAGA coalition is learning and preparing. This year, we face the threat of right wing extremists who want to occupy attorney general, secretary of state, and state supreme court seats. The only duty to which these MAGA-loyalists are bound is to elevate the party of Trump. We can stop them now by focusing our attention on critical down ballot races where the budgets are smaller and your donation's impact will be huge. My own secretary of state, Steve Simon, is one of the most progressive election officials in the country. That's why he's been targeted by MAGA. He's in a scarily tight race, and needs all the resources so he can fight back and keep fighting for Minnesota voters. We need him and these other Daily Kos-endorsed stalwarts of democracy to buffer us against vicious attacks on our government coming from inside the government. [Help defend our democracy, Friend. Donate $1 to each of Daily Kos's endorsed slate of democracy defenders and safeguard our elections.]( [DONATE]( Keep fighting, Irna Landrum, Daily Kos If you wish to donate by mail instead, please send a check to Daily Kos, PO Box 70036, Oakland, CA, 94612.
