Friend, when the Great Depression brought this country to its knees, workers fought side by side for better wages, better conditions, and so many of the rights and freedoms many of us now enjoy. That fight continues today. Not just for [miners]( in Alabama, [professors]( in Michigan, and [factory workers]( in Oregon, but for the millions of Americans who are working harder than ever before, with much less to show for it. [This Labor Day, honor the contributions — and continued struggle — of working people by helping to restore our ability to join together to demand our fair share of the economic growth we drive. Sign and send a petition: Demand the Senate pass Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act.]( [SIGN AND SEND A PETITION]( The PRO Act is the most significant worker empowerment legislation since the Great Depression era. It ends "right-to-work" laws — a Jim Crow relic designed to prevent Black and white workers from organizing together, protects the basic right to join a union by introducing meaningful, enforceable penalties for companies and executives that violate workers rights, expands workers' collective bargaining rights, and strengthens workers' access to fair union elections and protects corporations from tampering with the results. When working people come together, the sky's the limit. Organized labor brought us the 40-hour workweek, helped improve workplace safety, and bolstered environmental protections. There's nothing we can't do, as long as we do it together. [Fighting shoulder to shoulder for big, structural change is how we're going to create an economy that works for everyone. This Labor Day, I urge you to join us in demanding the Senate pass the PRO Act.]( [SIGN AND SEND A PETITION]( Keep fighting, Monique Teal, Daily Kos Daily Kos Relies on Readers Like You We don't have billionaire backers like some right-wing media outlets.
