Project 2025 plans to decimate the National Weather Service

They’ll dismantle and privatize the National Weather Service (yes, the agency that Americans rely on to accurately track and respond to extreme weather). Team, this summer has been marked by extreme weather -- wildfires in the West, extreme heat across the country, and flooding and hurricanes in the South. That doesn’t matter to climate deniers. Right now, right-wing ideologues want to eliminate the national systems we have to warn and help families prepare for extreme weather. In Project 2025, MAGA extremists have outlined their plans to gut the National Weather Service, decimate the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and end free weather reports -- leaving all of us threatened by extreme weather events with no warning. The National Weather Service provides critical weather forecasts and critical early warnings for deadly heat waves and destructive hurricanes. Imagine having to pay to receive life-saving alerts and evacuation warnings.
