Friend, [sign the petition: Keep religion out of schools. America is not a theocracy.]( [SIGN THE PETITION]( The United States was founded on the principle of religious freedom, enshrined in the First Amendment of the Constitution. Public schools, as extensions of the state, must remain secular to honor this constitutional mandate. Introducing religious teachings into the curriculum violates this principle and alienates students who do not share the same beliefs. States are introducing religious doctrine into public school systems. Most recently, Louisiana has become the first state to [require]( the display of the Ten Commandments in every classroom. [Florida]( introduced a new teacher training program that promotes far-right Christian nationalism. This trend threatens not only our nation's founding principles but the very fabric of our diverse society. [Sign the petition: Keep religion out of schools. America is not a theocracy.]( [SIGN THE PETITION]( The push for religious instruction in schools is part of a broader agenda of Christian nationalism, which seeks to reshape American democracy to reflect a specific religious ideology. America's strength lies in its diversity. Schools should be places where all students feel welcome and included regardless of their religious backgrounds. Forcing religious doctrine into the curriculum alienates students who do not share those beliefs and undermines democratic values. It is time to reaffirm our commitment to education without religious interference. We must advocate for policies that uphold the separation of church and state and resist any efforts to turn our educational institutions into platforms for religious propaganda. [America is not a theocracy, and our schools should reflect the diversity and inclusivity that define our nation. Sign the petition: The United States is not a theocracy! Keep religion out of our schools.]( [SIGN THE PETITION]( Thank you for fighting with us, Mayra Souza, Daily Kos We're not asking for much Over the past 12 months, the average donation to Daily Kos has been just $9.44.
