I also started listening a little closer to just how radical some of my college professors’ ideas were, and grew disillusioned with their insistence that the American dream was dead... Fortunately, there was a group on campus presenting alternatives to the siren song of socialism. YAL student leaders relentlessly tried to recruit me to their student organization, and I finally decided to check it out. All of a sudden, I was learning about free markets, the Constitution, the Founding Fathers, our Second Amendment rights, and civil liberties. I was inspired. I now knew that liberty was the answer. And I knew that if I didn’t take a stand for what I believed in, I would regret it. That’s when everything changed. I went all-in, and decided to commit my life’s work to fighting for principles of liberty and restoring our Republic. And YAL was there for me every step of the way. My story is like so many others. That’s why, this year, Young Americans for Liberty is launching Project 1776: YAL’s plan to recruit 100,000 new pro-liberty students to the ideas of liberty on college campuses across the country.
