Democratic Texas Rep. Lloyd Doggett became the first congressional Democrat on Tuesday to call for President Joe Biden to drop out of the 2024 presidential race following a disastrous debate. Biden began facing calls to drop out of the 2024 presidential race following his Wednesday debate performance in which he appeared confused, stumbled through answers and committed some senior moments. While many Democratic strategists and politicos have voiced their uneasiness with Biden being the nominee, Doggett is the first congressional Democrat to publicly make his opinions on the situation known. “My decision to make these strong reservations public is not done lightly nor does it in any way diminish my respect for all that President Biden has achieved,” Doggett said in a statement. “Recognizing that, unlike Trump, President Biden’s first commitment has always been to our country, not himself, I am hopeful that he will make the painful and difficult decision to withdraw. I respectfully call on him to do so.” INBOX: Rep. Lloyd DOGGETT (D-Texas) becomes the first sitting Democratic lawmaker to publicly call on BIDEN to withdraw from the 2024 race. “Rep.
