thinking of you... [View in browser](=.5iH33oYNrY3KUZXa-nGz2JNLsaLBADpRmuAytyF960U) Just wanted to check in. How are things? I've been quietly working on projects - it's frustrating how slow things are going and how little progress I'm making, and I imagine you may have similar feelings. I've found it's really important to find a project that enthuses you, and luckily I have a few of those going on right now to keep me focused. But I also want to help make sure you stay excited about your creative projects, and this summer might be a great time to get some inspiration and recharge your motivation. To that end, I'm thinking of running something like a free summer camp, where you can get feedback on your first few pages, but want to make sure I tackle something that helps you move forward with confidence. I think a writing or self-editing class, focused on common writing mistakes and how to revise them, could be useful? Unless you need more help with book marketing and visibility, but that's a much larger project and I may not be able to provide as much direct support. Also I feel like I've already said everything I can possibly say about book marketing, though there are some big changes happening right now and I will send some new tactics and news soon as well. (I just started a new project without telling anyone and it's growing faster than expected). Mostly, I just wanted to show up and let you know I'm still here for you, even if I go quiet sometimes... What are you working on? (Summer goals) I added a quick poll in my [Facebook Group](=.F3-6Ni40titnNNhY79x2FG4QqIYC7r8qo_MyUwQlCJQ)or on [YouTube](=.KYLTI-hFaVn8yIe1Y4MyUlftTQnPKOrAW72AlbEzAqg); I hope you'll leave a comment there so I can focus on being relentlessly helpful. If it's easier just hit reply and give me an update. I use this email list sparingly so I don't disturb you, which unfortunately means my email list sometimes only sees offers I've committed to sharing or supporting, and I don't ever want to seem spammy or salesy, so that's something I'll work on. Stay Creative! Derek Murphy @creativindie PS. My email list has grown past 100,000 again, so it's time for a culling; I hate to do that since I know I may accidentally remove some people who'd rather stay subscribed, but I also want to make sure my list is made up of people who want to hear from me. If you DO want to keep getting my emails, hit *reply* and tell me what you'd like to do this summer and what kind of support or help would be most useful for you! Flesch reading score measures how complex a text is. The lower the score, the more difficult the text is to read. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables. Usually, a reading ease score of 60-70 is considered acceptable/normal for web copy.
