One of the guiding lights I try to follow when choosing and developing content for CreativePro is the notion of tasks, not tools. I believe that the motivation to learn (and to be a CreativePro member) comes from the need to accomplish specific jobs, not from an innate desire to know how to manipulate some digital doodad. In order for the CreativePro team to create valuable content, we need to understand and address that motivation. Thatâs why I tell our authors to always answer the question, âWhy should we care?â before getting into any technical details. Whys come before hows. Donât get me wrong; the hows are indispensable. They are the actual content. Theyâre what we spend our time making, checking, and delivering. And delivering hows worth paying for is what keeps CreativePro in business. But ultimately, all the tools we cover in this magazine, on our website, and at our events are just means to an end. Itâs the jobs you do with them that matter most. And I can think of no job that matters more than making documents accessible. It matters from an ethical perspective, a business perspective, and a legal perspective. Itâs also a complex job that you canât accomplish with any one tool. You need a whole toolbox full of âem. Maybe a whole hardware store. And thatâs what youâll find in this monthâs feature article by accessibility expert Kathryn Collins. From tools to generate accessible color palettes and sources of inclusive imagery, to screen readers and simulators, scripts and plug-ins, training providers and communities, she serves up a smorgasbord of resources to help you deliver content thatâs accessible for everyone. Next up, Laura Coyle walks you through the process of adding dynamic measurements to vector artwork with the new Dimension tool in Illustrator. Iâll admit my first steps using this tool were a bit klutzy, so Iâm sure glad to have Laura here to be my guideâand yours. Then, we have Alan Gilbertson sharing his experiences using AI as a script-writing assistant. Thereâs vast potential here for opening up the power of scripting to a much larger audience (once you get the hang of communicating your wishes in words these assistants can understand). Steve Caplin contributes a pair of articles on using two new tools in Photoshop: the Adjustment Brush and the Selection Brush. And while it still may be sweltering summertime where you are, fall is coming soon, and with it, the need to craft some autumnal designs. So, our Resource of the Month is a bumper crop of fall foliage art and patterns. Enjoy!
