COURIER exists to expose right-wing misinformation like PragerU [Courier]( Remember PragerU, friend? Earlier this year, our Arizona newsroom, The Copper Courier, was the first to break an important story about their mission to put right-wing misinformation in Arizona’s public schools. The Copper Courier, January 31, 2024 Earlier this week, the South Carolina superintendent announced the state would partner with the right-wing media company, bringing PragerU’s influence in public schools to a whopping eight states. According to their founder, Dennis Prager, more are on the way. We’ll talk more about PragerU and why this matters in a second, but breaking important stories like these takes a tremendous amount of resources. [If you want to help us continue to inform people around the country about the issues in their communities, can you pitch in $25?]( In case you haven’t heard, PragerU is a right-wing media company that produces an educational “curriculum” for kids containing videos like “What Radical Islam and the Woke Have in Common" and "Is There Really a Climate Emergency?" They even have a guest course taught by Tucker Carlson. The organization runs an aggressive marketing campaign, calling themselves “a resource for all who value liberty [and] a threat to all those who do not.” Their stated goal is to “provide millions of Americans and people around the world with the intellectual ammunition they need to advocate for limited government, individual responsibility and economic freedom.” Their heavy-handed lobbying efforts have convinced eight states to offer their materials in public schools, all the way down to the preschool level. And they’re not going to slow down until their materials are in as many schools as possible. That’s why COURIER’s breaking news stories are so important. Our eleven battleground newsrooms across the country hold state officials who enact these policies accountable. We’re proud to break stories like this in communities where factual news is hard to come by, because we know how crucial it is that parents know these decisions are being made.
