Yesterday, JD Vance shot his shot by unearthing a “Swift Boat” style attack on Walz, questioning Walz’s more than two decades of military service. The similarities between Vance’s “stolen valor” accusation and the “Swift Boat” campaign that hurt John Kerry in his 2004 campaign against George W. Bush are more than just a coincidence. After serving for 24 years, Walz retired to run for Congress because the Department of Defense doesn’t allow military service members to hold public office. Despite having zero evidence to support such a claim, Vance called Walz’s decades of service “stolen valor garbage,” implying that Walz only retired to avoid going to the Iraq war. The attacks are eerily similar to the 2004 Swift Boat attacks on John Kerry. That’s by design. Why?
