No votes have been cast in the 2024 election. Fox News is already saying it’s stolen. [Courier]( Friend, The 2024 election is less than five months away. Most presidential polls are close, and the outcome is anyone’s guess. Unless, that is, you work for Fox News. [We’ll tell you more about Fox News’s irresponsible coverage and how it’s creating another January 6th in a moment, but if you support COURIER’s mission to safeguard our democracy against right-wing misinformation, can you chip in $20 now?]( January 6th wouldn’t have been possible without Fox News, friend. Legal documents show that, despite knowing full well that Trump was lying, Fox executives and personalities pushed his baseless election conspiracies to boost ratings in the days following the 2020 election. Now, Trump is at it again. Recently, he told Time Magazine that the only way Joe Biden can win is if Democrats rely on “the things that they did the last time.” In the same interview, Trump refused to rule out political violence should he lose. Meanwhile, Fox News appears to have gotten Trump’s message loud and clear. For months, their personalities and hosts have pushed a similar message to Trump, priming the Fox audience to believe the election was stolen should Joe Biden win in November. Here’s what we mean: - Greg Gutfeld, host of “The Five,” told viewers twice last week that the American public won’t trust the 2024 election results if Biden wins - Laura Ingraham has emphasized on her show that “Democrats are going to stop at nothing” to win, and “maybe even cheat” - Jesse Waters used his show to question how Americans could accept a Biden win given the use of ballot drop boxes Look these aren’t just lies, these are attacks on our democracy. It’s the same dangerous rhetoric that led to rioters storming the capitol on January 6, 2021. At COURIER, our mission is to set the record straight about Fox News and the right-wing conspiracies taking over social media and email inboxes. We meet voters in these spaces and provide them with factual, free reporting on the election and other important issues, so they don’t fall for the BS. With your support, we strengthen our democracy.
