At Corporate Accountability, we are taking the time to process the election results. We are honoring and giving space to all our emotions. And we’re listening to and learning from each other and movement leaders across the progressive landscape. I was particularly struck by something communications expert Anat Shenker-Osorio shared on a call on Wednesday morning: Despair is the ultimate tool of authoritarianism. And resisting despair is powerful. Protecting and caring for each other and ourselves, refusing to obey and comply with immoral actions, drawing lines in the sand -- all of this is costly to authoritarians. They only truly win when we give into despair, when we turn on each other, and when we believe their lies. Corporate Accountability’s role in defying despair is to keep challenging corporate power that’s at the core of this broken system, and to keep building people-power behind transformational change.
