Staying grounded in our values, defying despair, holding space for it all. ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌   [Corporate Accountability]( Friend, I hope you  have been giving yourself plenty of space to feel all of your emotions. At Corporate Accountability, we are taking the time to process the election results. We are honoring and giving space to all our emotions. And we’re listening to and learning from each other and movement leaders across the progressive landscape. I was particularly struck by something communications expert Anat Shenker-Osorio shared on a call on Wednesday morning: Despair is the ultimate tool of authoritarianism. And resisting despair is powerful. Protecting and caring for each other and ourselves, refusing to obey and comply with immoral actions, drawing lines in the sand -- all of this is costly to authoritarians. They only truly win when we give into despair, when we turn on each other, and when we believe their lies. Corporate Accountability’s role in defying despair is to keep challenging corporate power that’s at the core of this broken system, and to keep building people-power behind transformational change. You can [read more about that here](. And we’ll be sharing more in the coming days about ways to take action with us, so stay tuned. But for now, I hope you are able to find ways to nourish yourself and lean into meaningful connections. If you are looking for ways to take immediate action, here are three ways to do so: - Find a [local mutual aid group]( to support in your area - Join Haymarket’s livestream event, [“Where do we go from here? A post-election assessment”]( with Naomi Klein, Astra Taylor, Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor, and Chenjerai Kumanyika on Thursday November 21 at 7 pm ET - [Support Corporate Accountability’s work challenging corporate power under Trump.]( I’ll leave you with a poem that continues to inspire me: June Jordan's [“Poem for South African Women.”]( Some of you know that I was in South Africa when Nelson Mandela was elected, bringing an end to apartheid. I have seen the impossible become possible. And so I hold on to the promise and strength of what organizing can make happen when we come together for the liberation of all.
