Eeeek!!) So I had A LOT to say while answering this question⦠I mean⦠what were my biggest breakthroughs?? Where do I even start?! My entire business was built by attending in-person events. Not only did I massively level up my skills by going to events (helping me take my freelance business to $300k/year in less than 3 years)⦠But the connections I made were truly life-changing. I met people like Marie Forleo, Frank Kern, Jeff Walker, Andre Chaperon, Jim Kwik, Brendon Burchard, Glo Atanmo, Patrice Washington, and Amy Porterfield at events. But probably the BEST story is how I met my first client... It was 2011 and I was at an event in Phoenix. I met an amazing couple at the after party and, as it turned out⦠They were looking for some copywriting support. I agreed to a small $750 project â helping them re-write a sales page. That small project turned into another one, then another one⦠Then into a monthly retainer, then into a bigger monthly retainer⦠And eventually, into a 6-figure a year client relationship. Which lasted for 10 years. Read that again. 6 figures a year⦠for 10 years. That means I made a MILLION freaking dollars from just that one client. I even filtered through my invoicing software to double check ð That.is.nutty. 𤯠Especially considering they werenât my only client. I met many more clients at events over the years. I also made lots of connections who later referred me to clients... And even better than all of that⦠I met friends, mentors, and biz besties who are STILL supporting me as I build my business.
