Sometimes you need to pivot your marketing strategy in order to grow and evolve... And to better serve your customers as they grow and evolve too. Having a death grip on your OG marketing strategy isnât helping anyone⦠But to really understand this lesson, we need to travel back in time about 5 years⦠To when I first started my [YouTube channel](. Back then I had one core customer avatar â aspiring copywriters. Period. Full stop. The end. My audience consisted of people who wanted to start a freelance copywriting business from home (just like I had)⦠So all of my content, my USP and my entire messaging model was built around this one customer avatar and their one main desire. And it worked really well. My business grew FAST â to 7-figures in just one year. The problem is⦠Over time, my audience began to grow. And their skills, desires and challenges began to grow too⦠Those once aspiring copywriters were no longer aspiring copywriters anymore⦠They had taken my programs and were out there landing clients and starting new brands and businesses of their own. Thatâs when I realized that my content + messaging needed to grow and expand with my audience⦠So that I could continue serving my most loyal customers and create repeat customers⦠As opposed to ONLY focusing on gaining aspiring copywriters as new customers (who would also outgrow my content and peace out eventually âï¸). So while I kept on serving my original audience of aspiring copywriters⦠I now had an additional audience to serve â existing copywriters who wanted to level up, charge more, and expand their business. Easy enough. But then something crazy happened⦠I started gaining more authority in the marketing industry as my own business grew. I was named 2022âs Marketer of the Year by DigitalMarketer⦠I spoke on stages and at masterminds to entrepreneurs all over the world⦠And suddenly it wasnât JUST copywriters who wanted to learn copywriting and marketing from yours truly⦠It was also entrepreneurs, coaches and creators who wanted to grow their business like I had. So, if youâre keeping track here, thatâs THREE customer avatars 𤯠Each one with different end goals, desires and struggles. Oh god, what have I done?! lol But hereâs the thing⦠Despite their differences, all these business owners have something in common⦠They ALL want the very best copywriting + marketing education on the internet. So while I still am (and always will be) serving my og avatar of aspiring copywriters⦠My brandâs messaging strategy had to undergo [some pretty big changes]( to our social media and email marketing strategies⦠And to be honest, Iâm still figuring it out as I go⦠But you know what the biggest lesson Iâve learned is, {NAME}? ð Great marketing is all about delivering the best possible content (and offers) to the right market⦠And you better believe that can change over time.
