Company insiders declare: "Agora is dead" ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ I just got off a wild phone call with a buddy of mine. He’s a respected financial copywriter who lives nearby in San Diego... 2,630 miles away from the Baltimore offices where generations of Agora copywriters cut their teeth. "Agora is dead man," he told me. "What do you mean, dead?" I asked. "It’s the biggest direct response company in the world. It can’t just... DIE. You’re still writing promos, aren’t you?" "Oh yeah, I’m fine, but I sold millions of dollars worth of newsletters this year," he replied. "I can find clients anywhere." Some of you might know Austin, he’s been a Certified CopyHour coach since 2017, along with his friend Ning Li. Together they’ve coached over 100 up-and-coming copywriters. And based on my most recent conversation with Austin… The death of Agora as we know it is opening up a massive opportunity for beginning and mid-level copywriters in 2024. Here’s the deal: You’ve probably heard of the various divisions and subdivisions of Agora that calls to mind the phrase "Russian doll." Agora is a juggernaut of direct response that has completely redefined the industry over the past 30 years — innovating the industry in so many ways… (Some more savory than others.) And hiring more copywriters than anyone in the marketplace. But now important changes are happening, and fast. As my friend Austin Lee explained to me, a massive shift, two years in the making, is about to rip through the financial copywriting world. And in fact, all the top dogs are meeting in Baltimore TODAY to hash out the details. Details Austin believes could point you to your next high-paying copy gig. And it all goes back to those Russian dolls. In 2021, Agora went public under the company "Marketwise" (NASDAQ: MKTW). Since then, a wave of consolidation has swept across the various entities comprising Agora… Leading to the downfall of old guard divisions like Moneymap, Agora Financial, and others (hence Austin’s "death of Agora" proclamation)... And the RISE of a handful of super-charged divisions, each responsible for hundreds of millions in annual sales. (Like Legacy Research, Stansberry, TradeSmith, and InvestorPlace.) Here’s why that’s big news for hungry copywriters: As I’ll explain in my emails in the upcoming days... And as Austin explained to me on our call... Rising crypto prices... and the rally in AI stocks in 2023... is creating a boom of demand for financial newsletters covering those topics. For these two "hot corners," the bear market doesn’t exist. They can’t pump out VSLs and webinars fast enough to keep up with demand. And you know what that means? A LOT of demand for copy. Emails, order forms, upsells, downsells, cross sells, space ads, etc. Now whether you know the first thing about stocks or finance, or you’ve never written a full length sales letter in your life... None of that matters regarding this specific moment in financial publishing. I know... I know... it’s "the steepest learning curve of any type of copywriting." That’s true... IF you’re attempting to tackle full length VSL scripts and sales letters. But that’s not what Austin and I want to teach you. Not at first, at least. Look out for tomorrow’s email to get the inside scoop about a secretive meeting happening right now in Baltimore (AKA Agora’s gravesite)... And why if you stay on top of what’s happening, you could be one of the many new copywriters they hire as the AI and crypto booms create a rush of demand for new email copy. Talk more tomorrow. - Derek & Austin P.S. If you’re interested in learning the secrets of multi-million dollar financial copy... And how Austin has been able to rake in multiple six-figures in royalties in a single year... (Including one royalty check for more than $112,000...) Then make sure to check for my email tomorrow. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
