As always, our Friday newsletter explains 4 proven strategies and insights for content marketers. I guarantee one of them will give you a useful piece of info that you can apply and get value from. Keep reading to check them out... --------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Result Hooks Keep Winning Results-based hooks work crazy well on social media. Those include things you've done for yourself, things you've helped customers do, and impressive things that other people have done. They're also great for the first line of blog posts. For example, instead of a generic intro, you might start with a quick story about how you used whatever principle you're about to explain in the body below. 2. Create Pillar Content Pillar content is the content that helps your target audience the most and you constantly link back to in other content. If prospects have a big problem and search for solutions often, that's a pillar topic. Let's say you're a nutritionist. You might write a huge article on the healthiest foods. That'll get search clicks and be perfect for internal linking. Create pillar content, optimize it regularly, and use it often. 3. Create Content Silos People often get confused about what they should create content about. I like the metaphor of silos. This is where you fit every piece of content you create into some broader subcategory of your niche. Let's do another nutrition example. That's the niche, but you might have silos for weight loss, behavioral change, muscle building, and general health. This works for both social media and blogging. 4. Lesson From The Build I've been playing around with directory businesses lately, and it's going extremely well. If you don't know what those are, they're websites that point people to anything they might be looking for. You can create a directory for dentists in a certain city, agencies for a certain service, WordPress plugins, or anything else that people commonly look for on search engines. If you're looking for a new project to start, consider a directory. I'll probably make a huge how-to video on this on Copyblogger Academy sometime in the next few weeks. Flesch reading score

Flesch reading score measures how complex a text is. The lower the score, the more difficult the text is to read. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables. Usually, a reading ease score of 60-70 is considered acceptable/normal for web copy.
