"Dark Social" is the catch-all descriptor for the many ways and places we're interacting (and sharing links) that aren't easily findable and trackable by conventional web and social analytics. We're talking about things like: - DMs - FB Messenger - WhatsApp - Live chat - Chatbots - Even email (like this one) You see, web analytics programs like Google Analytics don't play very well with dark social. In fact, when you look at your web traffic reports, people coming to your site from Dark Social show up as "direct traffic" and are lumped in with people who just typed in your domain name. It's kind of a mess. Plus, with more and more customers (including yours and mine) using Dark Social to interact with businesses, there are big changes occurring in online customer service as well. Dark Social is a big trend, and it's growing in importance every day. I partnered with my friends at ICUC to bring you a special, multi-media overview of Dark Social and its key implications. It's called: [Why Dark Social Will Force a Rewrite of Your Social Media Playbook]( It's concise (just 12 minutes long), but it's important stuff. It's just 12 minutes, so you'll be able to fit it into your day. Dark Social is one of the most important trends in social media. Maybe the MOST important. Tune in for this primer — it'll get you thinking. Thanks as always for your trust and your time. And thanks to ICUC for putting this together.
