Firstly, Google's Pixel event was a spectacle with "AI" liberally sprinkled throughout -- you can now, for example, [swap your children's heads more easily]( Yet, despite all Google's software hocus pocus, it's the hardware that we're most interested in. The Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro offer [better cameras]( than before, as well as a temperature sensor. I personally like to think I can correctly guess the temperature and humidity at any given time, but that's not that useful, unless I can somehow tell another device that info. But if your phone knows the temperature, it can easily sync up with your smart home and turn the AC on, for example. On the other hand, Samsung's newest product was a quiet, sneak-it-through-the-side-door affair. The [Samsung Galaxy S23 FE]( coming October 26, is a budget-orientated phone and yet it still features three whole cameras and a stylish design. But if it's cameras you're interested in then look no further than our shootout between the [Samsung S23 Ultra and the iPhone 15 Pro](. CNET's Andrew Lanxon took the phones to the visually stunning waterways north of London and to parts of Edinburgh. He tested night mode, zoom and portraiture, and I was surprised to see how different the results were!
