Learn which hacks are backed by experts and which ones are myths. [CNET]( Insider [May 23, 2023](#?ftag=CAD-04-10aac3a&utm_email=02015bee48352e908c609176b0b8e62f74e1d7c914618055c65562e7c03efb52&utm_campaign_id=6891456&utm_email_id=c4f7cb7b3371a0c6393487646ca865a24f56d697009b761b6b76353a2222ee6e&utm_newsletter_id=71558&medium=email&source=iterable) [Expert-Approved Ways to Get Better Sleep]( When I was in high school and college, you would never catch me waking up before 10 a.m. It just wasn’t feasible. I wasn’t what you would call a good sleeper. It took me a long time to fall asleep. I’d toss and turn all night… and don’t get me started about trying to take naps. It just wasn’t a habit I could ace. I wake up early now, though -- right around 5:30 a.m. -- thanks in part to the book The 5am Club that I read earlier this year. (The book underscores the benefits of waking up early and mastering a morning routine to help maximize productivity, creativity and healthy habits.) But the other part that helped me acquire more and better sleep is simply trying out hacks and incorporating habits that promised quality slumber. I had to sift through tons of online advice, from testing meditations to red light exposure. I was so overwhelmed. What was real? What was backed by science? Over time, I found that journaling and then reading before bed was my magical nighttime routine to get a full eight hours of sleep. But luckily, you don’t have to experiment for weeks like I did. Just follow [this guide]( compiles the internet’s most popular sleep advice to separate the expert-approved tricks from those too-good-to-be-true hacks that have been debunked. Soon, you’ll achieve the sleep schedule you’ve always wanted. Keep reading for CNET's latest news and reviews, plus so much more, in today's newsletter.
