I know I do -- and I also know exactly why: It's a microwave oven, and it's plugged into a power strip. Don't do this. Don't be me. And if you need more guidance, we've got a list of [seven things, including a microwave, that you shouldn't plug into a power strip]( or extension cord. They could malfunction, or even start a fire. I would also add cable TV boxes to this list. I used to work at a cable company, and I'd do a lot of troubleshooting when people's televisions went a bit weird. Set-tops are not especially power hungry, but they are susceptible to poor performance if they don't get enough juice. If you haven't yet [cut the cord]( try plugging the box straight into the wall socket -- you may find that the picture actually improves. And this tip works for all electronic devices plugged into a wall: Unplug a gadget from the power for a few moments if nothing else works.
