But even with the blaze under control, the emergency is far from over. As of today, 37,342 wildfires have burned 7,330,640 acres across the country this year. And while fall is approaching, in recent years, continued heat waves and dry conditions have fueled unprecedented fires well into winter. Yet, Donald Trump continues to deny that the climate crisis even exists.
