On July 1, the Supreme Court issued a profoundly misguided ruling that gives U.S. presidents sweeping power to break the law — even knowingly and intentionally — with no criminal repercussions. Because the court’s decision in Donald Trump’s immunity case is based on the U.S. Constitution, a constitutional amendment is the only surefire way to overturn it. And overturn it we must. No president should have anything close to the kind of immunity the Supreme Court has conferred on the office. Not Donald Trump. Not Joe Biden. Not Kamala Harris. Not anyone who holds the office. Not ever. - Winning a constitutional amendment will not be easy. It is not supposed to be easy. That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try. - It will take time. There will be moments where it seems like nothing is happening. We may very well find ourselves in “one step forward, two steps back” territory along the way. - Big progress is always incremental. Painstaking. Maybe downright tedious. That’s the work we have to do if we want important things. And that’s why we are asking you to take action — again and again — even when you’ve taken action before. Right now, we need to get more members of Congress on record in support of an amendment. [Tell every senator and representative:]( [We urge you to support a constitutional amendment that would overturn the Supreme Court’s immunity ruling and restore the foundational principle that no one — including and especially not the president of the United States — is above the law.]( [Click to add your name now.]( Thanks for taking action.
