Title IX requires colleges to provide equal opportunities to men and women; typically that’s meant a proportionate number of scholarships. How the revenue-sharing would be split among men and women, however, remains unclear, Baker said. (CBS Sports, The Chronicle) REPUBLICANS OVERRULED [Arizona Governor Vetoes Bill That Targeted Faculty Governance]( The Republican-backed legislation would have stripped from state law language that requires faculty participation in shared governance at public colleges. Instead, administrators would have been required only to “consult” faculty leaders on institutional decisions. The governor, Katie Hobbs, a Democrat, wrote in a veto letter that limiting faculty participation “has the potential to weaken the institution.” (Arizona Luminaria) 'DOMESTIC' INCIDENT [Temple U. Student Killed His Girlfriend, Also a Temple Student, the Police Say]( The 20-year-old woman, Milan Jones, a third-year nursing student, was found dead at the scene on Saturday and showed signs of blunt-force trauma, the authorities said. They added that the investigation suggests the alleged homicide was a domestic-violence crime. The student accused of killing Jones, 21-year-old Tymir Lackey, was immediately suspended by Temple, the university said. (CBS News) DISPARAGING MESSAGES [3 Columbia Administrators Placed on Leave Over Texts at Antisemitism Event]( The three administrators — the vice dean and chief administrative officer, the dean of undergraduate student life, and the associate dean of student and family support — were photographed sending disparaging messages during a campus event. Photos showing the messages were first published in The Washington Free Beacon.
