Republican hypocrisy on border security and immigration is making a growing crisis worse. {NAME}, In case you missed it this week, House Republicans lost two votes back to back that seemed to have caught Speaker Johnson and his leadership team completely off guard. In a spectacular failure that highlights the Republican Party's head-shaking incompetence and inability to manage even their own caucus, much less govern the country, House Republicans lost a vote on their baseless quest to impeach DHS Secretary Mayorkas. They then proceeded to vote on standalone funding for Israel and lost that vote, too. Basic math must be hard for Speaker Mike Johnson. But beyond the embarrassing spectacle that is the do-nothing House under GOP control, we're witnessing in real time what happens when the bluffs of demagogues and media-obsessed MAGA cultists are called, straight up: when the GOP was presented with bipartisan legislation that gives them nearly everything they've been asking for on immigration and border security, their heads nearly exploded. Here's why this is happening: when the only thing you want from power is to win and beat your "enemies," and not to solve problems, getting things done is actually detrimental to your cause. This is exactly why we need to go on offense and fight to defeat do-nothing Republicans and flip the House to Democrats this November.
