Check out the brand-new winter schedule! [READER]( [Food & Drink]( January 5, 2024 One hundred in pop-up years is a century. That’s almost what it’ll feel like on February 3, when[Monday Night Foodball]( will feature the burgers of [Big Rig’s Chicago]( at [Ludlow Liquors]( for the big 100. We were naught but a wee notion back on August 21, 2021, when we invited [Giống Giống]( to feed us both chien churrasco and banh mi at the late, great Kedzie Inn (RIP). Luckily, we found a new home at the venerable Ludlow Liquors on—wait a minute—it’s[another anniversary](. January 15 will mark a full year and change at Ludlow, with Bistro Campagne pastry chef Angel Chavez and his nascent bakery [Au Levain](. There are lots of newcomers this round. I already told you about the kickoff this Monday with[El Hongo Magico]( and their miraculous mycelial Mexican menu. On January 22, it’s Viet-Lao comfort food with chef Alvis Hunh and [Về Lại]( followed by food pornographer [the Sausage King of Milwaukee]( on January 29 (both Foodball freshmen, but Ludlow sophomores). On February 19, Juan Meza’s [Johnny’s Table]( forces with Taqueria Chingón chef de cuisine [Angel Guijosa](. We have some seasoned vets too: wood-fired pita from Brandon Dumot’s[Laimoon]( returns on February 12, and threepeater[Laos to Your House]( will reliably bring the house down on February 26. As always, follow each of these chefs on Instagram, along with [@chicago_reader]( and [@mikesula]( for the very first word on weekly menu drops, ordering info, updates, and the stories behind Chicago’s most exciting foodlums.
