I want to share 3 key lessons I learned on my way from $0-$10M/year. While my businesses & social media may look fairly “polished” today, it certainly didn’t use to be that way… When I first started, there weren’t any courses on how to build an agency or deliver email marketing as a service. This meant for the first few years I was forced to learn the hard way: Through a brutal process of trial & error. It was tough… But it was also a blessing in disguise… Because those difficult years now make me USEFUL to people like you who are earlier on in their journey & looking for guidance. So with that being said, I want to share [3 key lessons I learned on my way from $0-$10M/year.]( Leading eComm + DTC brands have a way of using UGC creators + micro-influencers for UGC acquisition, organic posting, and whitelisted ads on Meta and TikTok. - The Snow Agency scaled UGC production for whitelisted ads to drive higher ROI for their clients - Wonderskin sourced 100 UGC video assets with less than a $5K budget - Upper Echelon Products scaled UGC and whitelisted ads that increased conversion rates from 8% to 20% But why micro-influencers? They have a more engaged and niche audience, they’re a cost-effective solution, and they build social proof to drive higher conversions. I know it can be hard to get enough creative to test, which is why you ideally have a great system for sourcing new creatives. The best teams are using [Insense]( to do this. [Insense]( is an all-in-one platform that combines a creator marketplace, interactive brief, integrated chat feature, and more. The past few years have been anything but easy with all the chaos we marketers have had to deal with. From privacy updates to rising CAC to layoffs and a looming recession. It's been tough, to say the least. And while there's no silver bullet — there is one asset that will make weathering the storm (and thriving during it) a lot more likely: Your owned audience: Email + SMS. A company I'm advising called [Retention.com]( has built a platform that'll help you do 2 primary things around identity resolution: 1. Their platform will help you send more abandonment emails (up to 5x-10x more), resulting in a boatload more revenue being generated for your or your client's brand. 2. Their platform will help you to capture more emails of people visiting your site. You're spending a lot of money to get people to your site, you might as well maximize your email capture. And no, your current popup just isn't cutting it. I highly encourage you to [chat with them]( about how they're helping my clients and others like Tonal, Blendjet, Dr. Squatch, etc. make a ton of money (seeing an average 2x-4x ROI) from their Email and SMS channels. Hire Great Freelance Marketing Talent If you're thinking through your marketing plans, I've got a resource for you. My clients and I have been using them to [hire amazing freelance marketing talent.]( The best part is they do the heavy lifting for you. No job postings, no interviews, and no headache. All you need to do is describe your project, and they'll help you determine the ideal marketer and other important details around budget, timeline, etc. You can literally begin connecting with top freelance marketers in as little as 48 hours. From what I've seen, most people use them to find email, content, growth, paid search, and paid social marketers. I highly recommend [chatting with them]( about your marketing needs. sponsored Subject line of the week from one of my clients: - Vertical: Food & Beverage - Recipients: 130,838 - Content: Raise + Retail Announcement, Intl Women’s Day - Subject Line: Big news - Preview Text: Mama we made it - Open Rate: 52.80% - CTR: 1.00% Do you run or work at a brand that needs marketing help? Reply to this email and let's chat! My newsletter stats from last week: - Recipients: 62,805 - Subject Line: 10 cognitive biases for high-converting copy - Preview Text: From a $100M marketer - Open Rate: 39.50% - CTR: 1.32% Coupon Codes are KILLING your business. Every time someone uses a coupon code, your margins literally SHRINK. Check out what happens when you switch to a CashBack model instead: - 17% of people request cashback - 26% of people request store credit - 57% DO NOTHING In other words, you literally add $4,035.44 back to your bottom line since it's gone unclaimed. The beauty of this model is that shoppers pay full price and then redeem post-purchase for either cash or store credit. But the reality is more than 50% never redeem either. And those that redeem store credit will spend $$$ with you in the future. Between unclaimed $$$ and those that opt for store credit, you're now WAY more profitable. This is crushing for my clients, so I just joined [Fondue]( the app that powers this, as an advisor. [Learn more about them here.]( Have a great week and make sure to send some emails! - Chase P.S. Flesch reading score measures how complex a text is. The lower the score, the more difficult the text is to read. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables. Usually, a reading ease score of 60-70 is considered acceptable/normal for web copy.
