Alex In My Inbox is a weekly copywriting series where I share interesting, actionable, and hilarious copywriting tips from "Alex". Alex is an anonymous copywriter who shares these tips with me so I can share them with you.   Today, Alex has an email to reframe the way you think about the business model of freelance copywriting.  This should help you achieve more.  Let’s check it out.   But first...   The way we’re working ISN’T WORKING.  The current work system is fundamentally broken. With the challenges of remote work and hybrid setups, I feel we’re all stuck in the constant tug-and-pull of increasing collaboration while decreasing confusion and time loss.  It’s more apparent than ever that we need a better way of working together.  Especially when it comes to creative projects where all hands on deck are required.  So, how do we solve this massive problem we’re all facing?  The answer lies in using tools that enable seamless collaboration and efficiency across your teams.  To both a) increase the speed at which we can complete tasks and b) increase the quality of the work we’re doing.  [Canva Enterprise]( has been instrumental in helping us achieve this internally.  And I know the same can be said for the 95% of Fortune 500 Companies [using Canva Enterprise.](  ^ this content was sponsored by Canva     Now let's dive into today's edition 👇     Dear Chase, I have a date tonight. I’m currently talking to someone who’s in law school down here in Florida. Super smart girl with a ton of potential. I bet her parents are proud. Their daughter is gonna be a Florida attorney. Suing people like me when I make claims about how the Amazon Automation offer I’m writing for can make you $1,000,000 in 30 days guaranteed. She’ll make a bunch of money. Here’s the thing, though… I have never entertained someone with a worse schedule than her. This poor girl wakes up at 7:00 in the morning to study for a few hours, goes to class, maybe she’ll eat lunch, and then she’ll study until 11:00 at night. She’ll do this for 3 more years while earning $0, and when she graduates, she’ll likely hit $500k a year in her 5th or 6th year if she’s REALLY about it. People often talk about how hard and time-consuming it is to build a business. Here’s what my schedule looked like when I was becoming a freelance copywriter: Wake up at 9:30 am, grab a coffee, start sending cold emails and DMs at 10:30. Take a break after 2 hours, have a hearty meal, and put in another 2 hours of outreach. Then, practice copy for an hour. Then, do whatever I want for the rest of the day. Within 3 weeks I was making $4500 a month. Within 8 months I was at $10k a month. 12 months, $20k a month. 18 months, $48k a month. In 18 months, with no degree, I built a $600k-a-year business working less than full-time. All profit. People don’t understand what “hard” is. Studying to be a lawyer while making NO money is hard. Becoming a copywriter, making money basically right away, and scaling to $200k a year in personal income is not that hard. It’s harder than being a bartender, but it’s not harder than being a lawyer, where you will make less money in way more time, and incur 6 figures of student debt. People need to get their priorities straight. Maybe I’m wrong, Chase, but I trust you to let me know. Yours truly, Alex. Sent from my Legal Zoom account (she’s gonna be replaced by AI)     I hope you enjoyed this week's Alex In My Inbox edition. Have a great weekend, Chase    P.S. Here are two ways we can work together:   1. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables. Usually, a reading ease score of 60-70 is considered acceptable/normal for web copy.
