Please add our new email address to your address book--- Hello, Because you get The Charlotte Observer news and information in your email, I wanted to let you know about some important changes coming next week. First, you'll see our emails will look different. Because so many of us check email on phones and tablets, we made it easier to read the day’s top local news on a smaller screen. You should find it easier to scroll and click to read news you're interested in. Second, we are changing our email delivery system. We’re doing all we can to make the change seamless, but there’s one item to note: You’ll see that many of our emails come from a new email address, like news@email.charlotteobserver.com or info@email.charlotteobserver.com. Please add those email addresses to your safe senders list and [let us know if you encounter any problems]( receiving your email updates. Note: If you also have a paid subscription to our publication, emails related to your subscription will still come from the current email address for a few months. We'll let you know when that will change. Flesch reading score

Flesch reading score measures how complex a text is. The lower the score, the more difficult the text is to read. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables. Usually, a reading ease score of 60-70 is considered acceptable/normal for web copy.
