Hey Boo! I am not a doctor… I just play one in real life. However, one of my ADHD superpowers is being able to deep dive (like wayyyy DOWN the rabbit hole) to research things I find interesting. Ever since the latest class of FDA-approved weight loss drugs came onto the scene, I’ve been borderline obsessed. Not only have I seen and heard from countless people who’ve dropped a lot of weight, but it seems like every other day there’s a story about “Ozempic face” online, or doctors podcasting on potential downfalls of this “quick fix” method to lose stubborn pounds. Well, when something sounds too good to be true, it just might be. Or, maybe not. And that’s exactly why I feel the need to throw myself into investigator mode–to discover who’s right, who’s profiting, which studies we can trust, and most of all, long-term safety. I’ve done several podcasts on the topic, so I’ve had the privilege of hearing from many of you and your first-hand experiences. [image](=) Here’s one thing we know for sure…big pharma is raking in major bucks on these drugs. It’s not uncommon for a month’s dose to cost over a thousand dollars. When there are billions to be made… You can be sure you’re going to hear a lot more of the positives than the negatives. But what I want to know (and want you to know) is that long-lasting weight loss is multi-faceted. Here are questions not enough people ask… - Once you get the weight off, how do you keep it off? What happens to your metabolism? - Are there natural alternatives? - What about the placebo effect? I’ve covered #1 at length in previous podcasts. [Find those here](). With regard to natural alternatives that rival GLP-1 results, do such options exist? The answer is YES! Do drug companies or the media want you to hear about them? No. Because these solutions aren’t sexy, and certainly aren’t profitable. Many are all natural (like berberine and magnesium),. Want the full list of non-prescription answers? Click here for my full run-down. I think it’s crazy that legitimate weight loss remedies get little to no air time. The truth is, none of this has to be that complicated. (I didn’t say it would be easy) Case in point…there are multiple studies proving that something called “the placebo effect” actually works for weight loss. Meaning, your thoughts and beliefs can legit cause the scale to go down. One of the most interesting and widely circulated studies is, “[The Mind Over Milkshake](” experiment. Researchers from Yale University gave two groups 380-calorie milkshakes. One group was informed that theirs was a rich shake containing 620 calories. The second group was told theirs was a skinny shake with only 140 calories. Surprisingly, ghrelin (the hunger hormone) levels responded in both groups to the level of calories they thought they consumed, not the actual calories in each shake. PubMed has also published similar findings, stating, “Research participants randomized to placebo-control conditions often report improved outcomes and can manifest physiologic responses that mirror those of participants who received the bioactive compound.” This supports the idea that the placebo effect affects appetite and weight management. Is your mind blown yet? 🤯 By no means am I suggesting that weight loss is simple. There are myriad factors (hormones, emotions, family, education, genetics, etc.) that affect one’s size, hunger cues, and ability to reach a healthy weight. I’m merely here to point out that big pharma (and Hollywood) have gotten our attention with these weight loss injections, and I need to caution you that they’re not the only way to get healthier. My Lifers ask big questions and do their due diligence. And I’m here to support you! You do you, Boo! But do so armed with the best science, the most sound research, and maybe even page two of Google on this subject, because if you only read page one, you’re going to be swayed by the agendas of companies who don’t have your best interests at heart. Love ya, mean it, Chalene P.S. Here’s one supplement I can’t live without for my own sleep, which helps me regulate my appetite. My Soul CBD gummies are a part of my routine that’s 100% non-negotiable. I asked them for a discounted price for all of you who read to the bottom… And they hooked you up! 😉 Whoot! Whoot!
