10X Gaza Match is active now — Give now.     Trouble viewing this email? [View it online.](   [10X match saves lives in Gaza – Give now »](   [CARE | Gaza Crisis](   [ONE YEAR OF CONFLICT](    From the desk of Deepmala Mahla, CARE’s Chief Humanitarian Officer    {NAME}, I went to Gaza. I saw the crisis for myself. I talked to women and families who fear for their lives every day. I met children, all of whom were hungry, thirsty, and itchy with skin rashes. I was scared because, truly, nowhere in Gaza is safe.   CARE is there in Gaza, doing everything possible to alleviate suffering and provide a glimmer of hope for a better future. Plus, a generous CARE donor is matching every emergency Gaza gift 10X, up to $1.5 million, right now. Don’t delay. [Save lives in Gaza.](  [CARE woker looking at wall of childrens' drawings](   In a school turned shelter, I cried looking at children's artwork - their own experience of this brutal conflict. This is one of the psycho-social support and protection activities engaging children in Gaza impacted by the ongoing violence as a way to help them release feelings of fear and anxiety.     What I saw was unimaginable levels of suffering, pain, disease, hunger, and piles and piles of rubbish because there is no garbage system. Hospitals are empty. … I’ve seen conflict zones as a humanitarian, and CARE has delivered aid in many difficult contexts, but I had never imagined I would see suffering to this level.   [image illustrating the massive amounts of exccess garbage](   Piles of garbage and waste I saw in Deir Al Balah. The conflict has caused a lack of waste collection that has led to a public health crisis.     There is so much imagery I don’t think I’ll ever be able to forget. The other day, I saw this woman sitting in the hot sun on the sand alone with a little baby and just crying and crying and crying. When we asked her what happened, she said she’s been evacuated seven times, and now she doesn’t know where to go.   "As a mother, every second of this conflict is filled with fear. I fear for my children all of the time. I am afraid that one of them could be harmed or killed."   — Sawsan, 30, mother, forcibly displaced from northern Gaza   [CARE staff and children standing in rubble](   All the families and children I met were hungry, thirsty, and have been displaced many times.     The conflict in Gaza has been going on for a year, so the humanitarian needs every week, every day, are higher than what it was yesterday... We do not have enough supplies to provide people with health services. [Everything is needed, and very urgently.]( before all this, the biggest need here is a ceasefire. Your support directly impacts how many people we can reach with lifesaving aid in Gaza – access to health services that include vaccination from polio for children, safe delivery for pregnant mothers, and much, much more. [Please give now while your gift is matched 10X.]( With urgency and support for the people of Gaza, Deepmala Mahla CARE’s Chief Humanitarian Officer   CARE’s team in Gaza has reached 723,423 people so far with lifesaving aid.
