Make Soft Veggies Crisp Again. If your cucumbers, radishes, celery, or carrots have gotten soft, slice them and put them in a colander with a dozen ice cubes and a pinch of salt. Toss them together, set the colander in a bowl, then place it in your fridge for an hour. Pat the crisp veggies dry and use them ASAP. 2. Clean Up Spilled Egg. Dropped a raw egg on the kitchen floor? Instead of trying to soak up the slimy mess with paper towels or a damp cloth, sprinkle salt liberally over the top of the egg and let it sit for about 20 minutes. The salt will cause the egg to clump up, making it much easier (and less messy) to clean up. 3. Clean Artificial Flowers. Silk flowers and faux plants can be tricky to dust by hand, but salt can make it quick and easy. Put dusty faux flowers or plants in a ziplock bag with a handful of salt, then seal the bag closed and shake vigorously. The salt will pick up dust and dirt from the plants, leaving them much cleaner.
