February 22, 2022 [View Online]( Good morning! Anti-aging skincare products can be too harsh for those of us with sensitive skin, but I finally found a serum thatâs both gentle and effective. I canât wait to tell you more about it in Todayâs Good Thing. Also in todayâs newsletter, Iâve got another Tech Tip Tuesday lined up for you. Find out how your phoneâs built-in bedtime features can help you setâand more importantly, stick toâa regular sleep schedule. Jillee TODAY'S GOOD THING The Perfect Anti-Aging Solution For Sensitive Skin [Photos of Jillee using her Wrinkle Reducing Night Serum.]( I was half convinced that all retinol products were too harsh for my skinâuntil I tried this one. Even though Iâve had several dermatologists and estheticians recommend retinol products to me to help minimize wrinkles and fine lines, most that Iâve tried ended up as failed experiments. My skin is dry and sensitive to begin with, and the harsh serums and creams I was trying only seemed to make both issues even worse. But after what feels like eons, I finally found an anti-aging retinol serum that not only works, but that is gentle enough that it doesn't irritate my ultra sensitive skin. Itâs one of the highlights of my Timeless by Jillee skincare collection: [Wrinkle Reducing Night Serum](. From the first time I tried it, I knew it was different from the products I'd tried in the past. It was smooth, creamy, felt good on my skin, and didnât immediately cause angry-looking red patches to appear (a sure sign that my skin is feeling mutinous). If you have sensitive skin like I do, or have been looking for a product that can help restore your skinâs brightness and vitality, I truly believe this one will exceed your expectations. You can find out a whole lot more about itâlike what makes it different from other serums and how to use itâby following the link below. Weâve all heard that adhering to a sleep schedule is an important part of our overall âsleep hygiene,â but establishing a regular sleep schedule is often easier said than done. But for iPhone users, the built-in Sleep feature on your phone can help make it easier. Open the Health app, tap Get Started under Set Up Sleep, then tap Next. Then you'll see a series of prompts to establish things like Sleep Goals (the number of hours you'd like to sleep each night), Bedtime and Wake Up times, and more. You can also enable a function called Sleep Screen, which will kick in at your specified bedtime to simplify your lock screen and turn on Sleep Focus. (Sleep Focus is similar to Do Not Disturb, and can limit notifications, app access, and more. Sleep Focus can be set up in Settings > Focus.) Once youâve set up Sleep, you can always go back and adjust your sleep goals or schedule as needed. If there's a one-off change to your schedule where you need to wake up early for some reason, you can change your next Wake Up alarm inside the Clock app. [Learn more at Apple Support](. Android Users: To set up a sleep schedule, open the Clock app and tap Bedtime. Tap the time under Bedtime and adjust the time and days you want to follow that schedule. You can also set up Bedtime reminders and Bedtime mode. Then set your Wake up time to finish your sleep schedule. [Learn more at Android Help](. COOKING Thereâs A Better Way To Know If Chicken Is Cooked [A photo of Jillee using a meat thermometer on chicken.]( Cutting into chicken to check if itâs cooked through can have unfortunate consequences. The reason why so many recipes specify a time for letting meat "rest" after cooking is that it takes time for meat to reabsorb the moisture that moves toward the exterior as it cooks. If the moisture doesn't get reabsorbed, it is liable to spill out as soon as the meat is cut. But resting isn't just important for beef or porkâit's important for chicken too. And yet people commonly cut into their chicken to check whether it's done, allowing the moisture inside to spill out through the cut. Depending on how much moisture is lost, this could cause chicken to become unbearably dry, and no one wants that! Instead of cutting into chicken to see if it's done, use an instant-read digital thermometer to see whether itâs reached 165°F. Not only is this a more accurate indication of doneness, but you'll only make one tiny hole in the meat as opposed to a large, deep cut. JILLEE'S PICK The Third Timeâs The Charm For The Great Gatsby [The front cover of ]( [The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald]( has been a fixture in American grade-school English classes for decades. And like many students, I found it difficult to engage with most books that I had to read for school, including The Great Gatsby. I gave it another try in 2013 after seeing the movie, but I still felt like I was missing something. The third time was the charm though, because I gave it another try recently and felt like I finally âgotâ what Fitzgerald intended with his portrayal of America in the [Roaring Twenties](. Set in New York after World War I, The Great Gatsby shows an America that has lost its moral compass, and where the wealthy elite live lavish, but ultimately hollow, lives. The narrator Nick Carraway serves as a comparatively "average" type as he describes living next door to the luxurious villa of the wealthy, enigmatic Jay Gatsby. Nick also gets involved with a cynical and bored social clique that includes his cousin Daisy Buchanan and her husband Tom. Fitzgerald's narrator describes the couple as âcareless people, Tom and Daisyâthey smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness, or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made." This description is the story in microcosmâthat glamorous facades often hide ugly truths. The writing is really extraordinary and emotive, but the storyâwith its extravagance, scandals, and corruptionâis compelling and tragic in a way that validates the acclaim this book receives. Revisiting Gatsby sparked my interest in reading more novels set in the Roaring Twenties, so please send your recommendations my way! [See The Great Gatsby by F.
