Their inaction is directly responsible for the hundreds of gun violence deaths that have occurred since then. Assault weapons are weapons of war and shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near our streets, schools, bowling alleys or restaurants. Yet Congress hasn’t made enough of an effort to ensure an assault weapons ban as the law of the land.
