We're trying to achieve universal background checks. Did you know that 1 in 5 guns are sold without a background check, often through gun shows or private sales online? Without background checks, firearms are more likely to fall into the hands of dangerous individuals, including felons and domestic abusers. That's why it's no surprise that an overwhelming majority of Americans — more than 90% — favor closing gun sale loopholes and requiring background checks. Recently, gun safety leaders introduced the Background Check Expansion Act in Congress, and President Biden signed an executive order that will increase Brady background checks across the nation.
