You're getting this message because you’ve supported good causes and Democratic candidates. We need your support to continue fighting for our democracy. [SIGN to tell Congress: Take IMMEDIATE federal action to protect LGBTQ+ youth →]( “You’re a queer Latina who works at Planned Parenthood. Don’t you think you’re too much for your district?” That’s the “advice” from a political operative as I first considered running for office. I was furious — not just for myself, but for the 400,000 LGBTQ+ people in my state. Were we all “too much”? That interaction lit a fire under me. Not only did I run, I flipped one of the most competitive districts in the Washington State Senate — and I immediately got to work on bills to make life better for working people. I protected my State Senate seat in 2022 when everyone was saying I couldn’t win and even became Deputy Majority Leader. Even now, I’m hearing the same “advice” that boils down to folks being scared of leaders like me who break the mold. Now, LGBTQ+ people, especially queer and trans kids, are under attack from cynical Republican politicians in dozens of states and in Congress. They’ve filed over 400 harmful bills ranging from taking books with LGBTQ+ characters out of school libraries to banning life-saving gender-affirming care. [That’s why we’re fighting back, state by state — but we need national action. Tell Congress to ACT NOW federal level to stop the attacks on LGBTQ+ youth →]( There are a range of solutions available to Congress. But we need more members with the courage to take action. Here in Washington, we updated the rules for legal name changes, strengthening safety and privacy protections for trans and nonbinary people, refugees, and survivors of domestic violence. We required all contracts for public services to contain anti-discrimination clauses. We passed a shield law to protect those seeking abortion or gender-affirming care in Washington from prosecution or persecution in their home states. And we ensured that trans youth who are not supported at home have access to safe accommodations. I have helped lead these policies, so I know what it takes to get it done. Here’s the truth: Representation isn’t just symbolic. Having queer and trans people in office saves lives. Not only do we need to elect more LGBTQ+ people at every level of the ballot, we need a Congress that will treat the attack on LGBTQ+ freedom and equality with the seriousness it deserves. [This will take ALL of us — so if you agree that we need action, please join my campaign and tell Congress to protect LGBTQ+ students from cruel, cynical Republican attacks →]( Thank you so much, — Emily Randall Democrat for Congress, Washington’s 6th District Emily Randall has been endorsed by Planned Parenthood Action Fund, Equality PAC, LPAC, LGBTQ+ Victory Fund, PODER PAC, and dozens of other leaders and organizations. Right-wing authoritarianism, defeated by a worldwide coalition during WWII, was only in hibernation. Over the past decade it has infected democratic societies--including ours. It is as simple as it is terrifying: What we do now will define the future of our country and world. We at Blue Amp Action are dedicated to liberal, open societies, where reason and science are applied to solve our problems; where civil rights--including voting rights!--are protected for all. We fight for these values every day. Speaking up on our platforms, raising the voices and the political prospects of liberal pols and pundits. So we ask that you support our work, so we can continue to engage in this fight every moment of every day. So our kids grow up in democracy, not dystopia. Thank you for your support for all we do!
