I have HUGE news I wanted to share with you personally. Gov. Tony Evers just called for a special election to fill the open seat in Wisconsin’s 8th Congressional District, the winner of which will be able to serve in Congress before the other members are sworn in for the new term next January. ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ You're getting this message because you’ve supported good causes and Democratic candidates. Tony Evers just called for a special election to fill the open seat in Wisconsin’s 8th Congressional District, the winner of which will be able to serve in Congress before the other members are sworn in for the new term next January. [Together, I know we can win this special election and flip this open seat blue. Tonight I’m up against my first-ever mid-quarter FEC fundraising deadline and I was hoping you could be one of the 250 donors we need to step up before midnight to hit our goal.]( [CHIP IN NOW!]( I wanted to briefly explain why I’m running and why I’m asking for your support: - Democrats were within 4 points of carrying this district in statewide contests in 2018 and 2023. This seat is highly competitive, especially with the stakes of a special election. - Incumbency plays a powerful role in our elections, since incumbents have higher name recognition in their district, get free media and press, and can use their official platform to reach voters in the district outside of their campaigns. Since this is an open seat and therefore has no incumbent, the playing field is much more level! - I’m not your typical candidate – I never imagined I would run for office. But as an OB/GYN who provides full scope, evidence based care for my patients, I refused to sit on the sidelines when Republicans tried to ban abortion without exceptions in my state. - I refuse to let Republicans take us back to the 1800s when it comes to women’s health and rights. I’m a 6th generation Wisconsinite, I’ve proudly served the women of my community for years, I know first-hand how devastating abortion restrictions are to my patients, and I personally sued to successfully block extreme Republicans from banning abortion outright in our state. [There isn’t a single pro-choice OB/GYN in Congress. If we win this special election, there will be, and I will fight tooth and nail to guarantee a woman’s right to choose AND her health care provider’s ability to practice medicine without political interference. Donate ahead of our mid-quarter deadline tonight and let’s win the Wisconsin special election.]( [DONATE NOW]( Thank you, Dr. Kristin Lyerly Cliff Schecter President, Blue Amp Action Amplify Good About BlueAmp Action: We cannot sugarcoat the current situation. Right-wing authoritarianism, defeated by a worldwide coalition during WWII, was only in hibernation. Over the past decade it has infected democratic societies--including ours. It is as simple as it is terrifying: What we do now will define the future of our country and world. We at Blue Amp Action are dedicated to liberal, open societies, where reason and science are applied to solve our problems; where civil rights--including voting rights!--are protected for all. We fight for these values every day. Speaking up on our platforms, raising the voices and the political prospects of liberal pols and pundits. So we ask that you support our work, so we can continue to engage in this fight every moment of every day. So our kids grow up in democracy, not dystopia. Thank you for your support for all we do!
