Also: Nigerian female producers deserve all their flowers. [View in browser](=._L6i0uM9nU7a8SQIcs2Vb1JweWveaktiRR5xlfTFCPY) [Zikoko Daily] 22 March, 2023 Hey . Today’s #WhatSheSaid reinforces my stance that I can never be a teacher in this Nigeria, because what did I just read? Students bullying teachers? Students trying to make a teacher drink urine? That’s a hard pass. Get somebody else to do it. Tife Editor In This Letter: - 1 [It’s time to give female Nigerian producers their flowers](=.VNQXqT4neHeTMmtLX7aak9mhZU8s9mHTYDU3nvvGgHA) - 2 [How to survive as a newly unemployed Nigerian politician](=.2OXZOGPBk1q4y3kZZDfk8waj4e0jHzREV1W_GWDj5jk) - 3 [All the petitions filed against BAT’s presidency, explained](=.hv8Li2W2Yi8FrUGz3p8WpzclXPVaRi71uYELLYAxm7s) WHAT SHE SAID Inside Gist: I’ve Given Up on Teaching in Nigeria =.8YRgY64WGiwifFuIlrb0dS0EXtnsYeFPcTHHUHiAhTA Heyy Lolade. Have you ever wondered why NYSC sends everyone to teach? I feel like there’s an agenda. Have you noticed the state of schools and lack of teachers in Nigeria? I wasn’t posted to teach — thank God because I don’t have the patience and I don’t really like children — but I think most people are because the government is very uninterested in doing the right thing to help the education system. It’s like, “How can we use these people we practically forced into our employ for minimum wage?” Can our government be serious for once? So many government schools rely entirely on the two or three corp members sent every year, and that’s it. You have a lot to get off your chest about Nigeria, and honestly, same. Did anything stick out to you during this interview? Omo, this woman was tired. She was so disillusioned and drained about the lack of progress. She’s tried for five years to make a difference, and I think the tiredness came from sadness at not being able to do that. It reminded me of the frustration I’m currently experiencing with the banking sector. I’ve been trying to receive payments for weeks, and it’s just annoying. Omo, I can relate. And the bullying? It’s crazy. It just feels like everyone is bullying everyone else, and it points to our disintegration as a society. Bullying at the polls, and even students bullying their teachers. A student legit peed in a bottle and pretended it was LaCasera so a teacher would drink it. I don’t think readers are ready for how bad it gets in this article. But then, she’s planning to go teach in South Korea, and as a K-pop lover, I’m jealous!
