Just in time for Fall — try this homemade ‘lip plumper’ with items in your pantry! {NAME}, Did you know your lips — like fingerprints — are completely unique? That means there are currently 8.2 billion sets of lips, each as individual as we are. And when you consider that most folks tend to overlook lip care… Even though dry, aged lips can make you look years older… That’s a whole lot of lips in need of a little TLC. You see, there are just 3 to 6 layers of skin cells on your lips (compared to the 16 layers on the rest of your body)... And unfortunately, those layers get even thinner with age… So if you’re going for that ‘plumped up’ youthful look — nourishing your lips is ESSENTIAL. However — because lips are ultra-sensitive... Caring for them properly is suuuper important. And since Autumn is officially upon us…(dare I call it “Pumpkin Spice Season”?!) I’m sharing an easy homemade remedy to nourish, plump, and rejuvenate parched-looking lips. Now, I know what you’re thinking: Why DIY when there’s TONS of lip products everywhere? Because many popular lip care products can actually make things worse! You’ll want to steer clear of common ingredients like alcohol, phenol, menthol, and salicylic acid — which help create that “minty” feeling — as they actually can DRY your lips over time. Luckily, this recipe doesn’t contain any of these… Only simple ingredients you can find in your pantry. In fact, all you’ll need is: 🎃 Pumpkin Puree — Pumpkin contains alpha and beta-hydroxy acids, which are natural exfoliators that wipe away dead skin cells. (Yep, the canned stuff will do the trick.) 🤎 Brown Sugar — The molasses works as a conditioner for your lips. 🥥 Coconut Oil — The lauric acid in coconut oil nourishes the skin to help heal dry or chapped lips, while the fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals can soothe and soften skin. 🥄 Nutmeg & Cinnamon — Just a sprinkle of cinnamon helps stimulate blood flow to the lips, giving a slight plumping effect. And the nutmeg adds a delicious aroma. :) Okay, here’s the recipe!  **Dr. Layke’s Pumpkin Spice Lip Scrub** In a small mixing bowl, add 1 teaspoon of coconut oil and 1 tablespoon of pumpkin puree. Mash the mix until smooth. Stir in 2 tablespoons of brown sugar. Add a dash of cinnamon and nutmeg. And your lip mask is ready!  You can apply this scrub with clean fingers, massaging your lips gently to exfoliate. Then, leave the mixture on for 3-5 minutes, before wiping it off with a damp cloth. And finally, finish with a bit of petroleum jelly to help lock in the moisture. For best results, I recommend using this lip scrub twice a week. Because while getting soft, hydrated lips can be difficult (especially in the colder months)… It doesn’t have to be complicated or pricey. And when you do give this lip scrub a whirl, {NAME}, be sure to do one thing: Prepare for compliments. 😊 (Because your soft, rejuvenated lips WILL attract them!)
