Behold a recent text conversation with my biz partner at BerserkerMail: === elBENBO: There’s no rush - tldr we’re gonna create a BerserkerMail Facebook group, and I never thought I’d actually say that out loud TROY: lol elBENBO: I sent you an email about direct mail, too, which to me is far more exciting === So was born the BerserkerMail Mead Hall Facebook group. I never thought I'd be saying that again. But after talking to one of BerserkerMail's co-owners John Wood (who runs the BerserkerMail Twitter account), it became clear it was time to sac up and go where a big chunk of would-be clients like to hang out like flies on the same turd: Facebook. Despite my hatred of all-things Facebook I have had an account since October. I just don’t engage with anyone or see the bull shyt on there. And the reason why is, I have it set so nobody can message or friend me (not even Stefania), and I don’t even pay attention or look at tagging or other notifications. I have strictly been on there to lurk a few minutes each day in a group for my town because it’s literally the only way to get any real news around here, and Stefania grew irritated with my always pestering her for updates. So anyway: We put up a BerserkerMail Facebook group. But, before anyone who used to haunt my old elBenbo’s Lair group gets excited: This will be nothing like it. For one thing, Facebook would cancel it if it was. (Will not explain) And secondly, this group is a totally different animal, with a totally different agenda, and it’s not “my” group, it’s BerserkerMail’s group — meaning I am but a lowly admin and not the sole owner, nor do I get to be a dictator and impose my authoritarian ways upon those who it amuses me to. It also means there will probably be legit value in there for those who use email. And it also means it will probably not devolve into just one big social experiment again (as I taught in my Social Lair book) like my old group was. Of course, I could be lying through my teeth and just saying that. I could just be trying to temper expectations with this email. I could, yes, be already creating my own little psyop once again… Or I could be telling you the God-honest truth. There is only one way to know for sure. And that is to enter the BerserkerMail Mead Hall here: [https∶//www.EmailPlayers.com/meadhall]( Ben Settle P.S. The direct mail part above is in regards to a conversation I am going to be having with arguably the #1 direct mail guy still walking the earth Craig Simpson. I consulted with him in the past a few times about growing Email Players with direct mail, but he and Doberman Dan both helped me discover that direct mail is not practical for acquiring the kind of customers I want. But, that may not be the case for a couple other offers I’m selling. And while I have no idea what will happen after that discussion this month, you can bet that sweet 'n sour gluteus assimus of yours I’ll be sharing insights I get from any direct mail campaigns I get tangled up in inside Email Players in the future — as I do believe merging those two marketing medias is going to be almost mandatory within the next 5-10 years for a lot of businesses that want to grow beyond 6-figures, and maybe even beyond 5-figures. Especially as the clown world big tech platforms get more converged & autocratic. This email was sent by Ben Settle as owner of Settle, LLC. Copyright © 2024 Settle, LLC. All Rights Reserved.
