Came a question from one of the yutes abroad: === I just wanted to ask you for advice or tips if you have any for me, a 20 year old guy from Serbia, that made €100k for myself providing email marketing services to eCommerce stores and generated over €3M for thos brands from the age 16-18, then I lost it all, due to me being super reckless, and now for the past 2 years I haven't moved an inch, income still at 0, enrolled in uni, just so that I have a backup, because I don't have any clarity or vision. My goal is to become very rich (€100M+) so that I could help my community, those in needs and etc, not really materialistic things, except a few. But yeah, sorry if I am bothering, but if you have any advice for someone like me, I would really appreciate it. === You know, at least he comes at me with respect. And not the usual entitlement mentality the broccoli heads do. That said here is some advice: First: Ignore everything, and I do mean everything, you are seeing on social media about marketing, business, copywriting, email, whatever. Especially the goons hiding behind cartoons so nobody knows they live in their moms’ basements. They are ALL full of shyt until proven otherwise. And having a bunch of people jerking them off in the comments and them pretending to speak with some kind of authority does not mean they aren’t full of shyt. Probably, that only means they are. What’s better? Do the opposite of what everyone on social media says. Yes, this includes listening to me if I said something on Twitter. Just ignore it. Social media is a swamp of bad advice, liars, and desperate attention-seekers. Second: Master the basics of direct marketing before doing anything else. If you had them mastered, you wouldn’t be asking me this question after amassing all that money. Anyone can make money once. But creating an actual business that lives, long term, and weathers all the storms. Master the basics and you have a foundation. And you can build upon a foundation, unlike whatever you did before. Third: You’re not ready for the Email Players newsletter. (You need a real business, offer, list, etc) But for those dropping eaves on this: The December issue shows the exact attitude and approach to business and marketing for growing it, strengthening it, and making it extremely attractive to those you wish to do business with (customers, clients, JV partners, whatever it is…) in a way that’ll admittedly horrify a lot of the 20-somethings so much it straightens their broccoli haircuts. I am dead serious about that too. Most young’uns — even if they qualify — will NOT like the info. And even if they do, they probably won’t implement it. Probably they will need to be burned, rejected, and spurned many times first. That’s just how it goes. The yutes of today — especially the copywriters — have extremely fragile minds and egos. They mostly (there are a exceptions, there always is, I am generalizing obviously) are ridiculously quick to be offended, cannot take any criticism, and the idea of not supplicating (to women, clients, their Facebook friends for approval, etc) to try to get what they want is as foreign to them as basic math and economics is to Creepy Joe. All right I’ve said enough. Take the advice or don’t. But can’t say I didn’t try to help the guy out. For those who are qualified and interested in Email Players, there’s still a little time left to subscribe before the looming deadline.
