A reader asks: === I just wanted to ask you a quick question, I have seen is that personality driven emails work far better than simple emails in which you are just educating your list and not entertaining them with stories and your personality. But what if I am writing for my clients? Because I don’t know what my client’s personality is probably like. So should I even write personality driven emails for my clients or should I just focus on writing simple emails for them. === The reason this is such a spooky-timely question: The July Email Players issue answers this question in spades — and from the point of view of using infotainment to all but “become” your client much like a Method Actor becomes the character he performs. I don’t even call it acting, but performing. Big difference in my way of thinking. And this July issue teaches this via what I believe is a new twist on how to apply infotainment to sales copy and emails and marketing. It is especially useful for freelancers writing in someone else’s voice. And it can be even more especially useful to freelancers wondering the exact question above. I also show examples, too. Including from two totally different client jobs where I applied it. But it ain’t the examples that matter, it’s the approach. I’m quite anxious to see how some of my boys & ghouls apply this info. It’s worked for me for years and still does. But now I want to see how it works for others. Tonight’s the nasty deadline to subscribe in time to get in on time. Flesch reading score measures how complex a text is. The lower the score, the more difficult the text is to read. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables. Usually, a reading ease score of 60-70 is considered acceptable/normal for web copy.
