Email Players subscriber Fyodor Pimenov writes: “Ben, I want to say that truly appreciate your help, as well as your daily support and guidance. Your marketing wisdom has been invaluable so far, but it goes beyond that. You've helped me maintain my sanity despite whatever chaos could come up in my life. Thank you.” That's what we do 'round these here parts: Crush chaos beneath our righteous toes. That ain't just a line either as yes - making sales, growing a company, etc is the goal. But it’s like the story John Carlton and Gary Halbert used to tell about the auto parts owner who owned 32 locations, was overweight, health failing, marriage in the dumpster, kids who hate him… and all he talks about is how excited he is to open his 33rd location. Yeesh. But as many-an-Email Players subscriber can attest to, often the same principles I teach in the newsletter that help work to grow a business’ sales, size, scope, and influence are the same principles that can also help grow a person’s relationships, friendships, family life, and ability to conquer other problems that have zero to do with business whatsoever. Do what you want with that. I’ll end with this: The July Email Players issue is about a skill that I have used many times both in my personal life and business life. And that skill is… Infotainment. i.e., combining information with entertainment to get engagement and attention, creating influence and sales, and, yes, deal with chaos and problems that come up. A useful skill right now, as more and more businesses on my list report sales, engagement, clicks dropping like flies lately. Infotainment won’t solve all your problems. But it certainly won’t hurt to know this info. And when it comes to your business: The twist I teach on how to apply infotainment to emails, sales letters, marketing can potentially make doing your work a lot more interesting, a lot more fun, and, of course, a lot more profitable. And I’d say this is especially the case if you are working for clients and they don’t give you all that exciting of a product to sell or they are not all that exciting of people and make it hard to write ads or emails for their stuff. All is revealed in the July issue. The deadline to get it is almost upon you, my Child. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables. Usually, a reading ease score of 60-70 is considered acceptable/normal for web copy.
