Many years ago I had ownership inb an info publishing business in weight loss. i.e., selling eBooks to overweight women. And one of my most effective methods of selling to them was shamelessly, and relentlessly wrenching on their worst insecurities. Like, for example, an email telling a true story about a woman (who was not pregnant) at the mall, and a cashier asked how many months pregnant she was. Another was about a woman who was trying like hell to lose fat⦠only to find her so-called friends purposely always tagging her heavy pics on Facebook. Yet another talked about how mortified a woman struggling with her weight was with her new drivers license photo. Then there was a story about a woman who realized the only reason her skinny friends hung out with her is because she was the âfat friendâ who made them all look more attractive by "default" to the guys at the bars or clubs. And the one about a woman whose doctor told her she was a âcardiac event waiting to happenâ¦â And the list goes on and on and on. All very successful. All pulled right from the market (true stories). And, if you asked your Facebook friends.. theyâd no doubt say my emails were insensitive, not "nice", maybe even fat shaming, yada yada yada. I am sure someone would say I need to be more kind, if nothing else. And they may or may not be right about that. But the emails were also extremely effective. In fact, a couple years later I had the rare pleasure of talking to Jim Camp personally about these emails when the worldâs greatest copywriting coach David Garfinkel invited me to be on a call he was doing with him (which was about 9 months before Jimâs death). Hereâs what Jim Camp said to me: (Straight from the transcript) === JIM CAMP: Ben, this is Jim. You're solving a real problem and you're creating vision for that person of a solution to a problem they see clearly coming because you've helped them discover it in the story, so all you've done is provide a solution to her real ... That's a real problem for her. === When Jim Camp says you done good, you don't fight it. You don't give him any backtalk or "lip." You just do more of what he just told you you did good at... Fun fact: I let a mastermind client (when I co-hosted our Oceans 4 Masterminds with Ryan Levesque, Jack Born, and Andre Chaperon) at the time named Shaun Hadsall in the fitness and weight loss niche use just one of those emails. The exact one Jim was complimenting me on, incidentally. Hereâs what Shaun said at the time: â[The email you gave us] put us in 1st place on this launch and doubled our sales on day 2. unheard of in our industry. All the big guys are blown away that weâre only sending 1x per day...hitting unopens in the afternoon and crushing them on salezzz.... They're all sending 2-3x per day and they still can't keep up!â And so it goes. Which brings me to the pitch: My pal Michael Senoff had a chance before Jimâs death to record an intense 4-hour, 174 question Q&A with Jim about some of his best methods and ideas, and packaged it into a a $597 product that is â in my opinion, at least â some of the most powerful info youâll ever hear on the subject of not only negotiation, but sales, the psychology of influence & persuasion (even if he didnât particularly care for the term âpersuasionâ), and marketing. Plus: Until tonight (Sunday, 6/9) at midnight EDT you can have this $597 product for just $20. This is a deal so generous it borders on ridiculous. And, I cannot imagine it not significantly making any marketer, any copywriter, any freelancer, any coach/consultant, and anyone in business who carefully listens to it, intensely studies it (i.e., goes through it multiple times, not just one-and-done like amateurs do), and eagerly applies it make a ho bunch more sales, nab higher fees, and experience far greater success, while having more fun and peace of mind all around. Certainly has for me. And I believe it can for you too. Anyway, time is short on this offer.
